Gas was 35 cents a gallon when i started driving.

children were able to play outside after dark and all the parents sat on the porches watching us.. and we knew if we were in trouble we could go into anyone house for help..

you could spank your kids with out getting in trouble and the neighbors had permission to punish you if you were naughty.. and the school teachers..

you worse fear of trick or treating was needles or razor blades in fresh fruit.. which the local poilce dept always was open with metal detectors to go over your candy... now ya have to worry about all kinds of drugs... Iwould not let my kids go trick or treating.. only with friends and family members or the church partys...

Back in my day, little girls wore dungarees and sturdy shoes, rather than stilettoes and push-up bras.

And our second-wave mums allowed us to play in the mud and climb trees. Because our dungarees were quite tough and easy to clean.

... children's admission to a movie theater was 50 cents, and that was for a double feature with cartoons and a newsreel as well. 😀
