the "baseball only" thread

I enjoy remembering the seasons of 1955, 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, and 1988. 😀

Me too. I was very disappointed. Ryne Sandberg was my favorite player, at the time. He had a good season, and then as I recall (I may be thinking something else), he sort of fell off, during the post-season. 😱

Glory days will come again, for the Dodgers, and the Cubs (gosh, it's been like a 100 years) :wow:

The Dodgers last World Series victory was 1988, before the memory of today's college freshman. 😱
For the Cubs, it was 1908, before my parents were born. 😱 😱

They've had some good seasons, here and there, since 1908, but they just haven't quite been able to pull it off. :ranty:

The first baseball season that I was old enough to watch and understand was 1955, the only year that the Brooklyn Dodgers won the World Series. 😀

Well I am waiting for the Mets to get a run going. I hope it comes together for them soon or this will be a long year. 😕

I am waiting for the Dodgers to get a "second wind." It doesn't seem to be happening. 🙁

The games that I care about today are on the west coast, and are not over yet.

Bad news as the Dodgers lose Eric Gagne for the season. That is a tough break for them. They got a great pitching performances the last 2 games but lost both games to the San Diego Padres.

Too bad about Gagne. Maddux tied Seaver, though. I'm glad to see the Cubs winning a couple again. They had a bad time in NY. 😀
