The most exciting Formula I race of the year is usually the Monaco Grand Prix. Imagine racing cars with up to 900 bhp speeding through a rather narrow city, with up to 188 mph. Particularly the onboard camera perspective is breathtaking. This year, only half of the participants reached the finish line. And for the first time this year, it was not Michael Schuhmacher in his Ferrari who won the race (he was bounced off the road by another driver), but Jarno Trulli from Italy, driving a Renault. Second was Jenson Button (British, BAR), third was Rubens Barichello (Brazilian, Ferrari).

The only halfway comparable racecourse I know is in Detroit, but there the course is rather flat, whereas Monaco is built on a steep mountain, with hairpin bends and all that. Exciting! 😎

Q: And what have we learnt today Mr Schumacher?
A: Not to brake test the guy behind in a dark slippery tunnel in a car with no brake lights under safety car conditions.

And anyone living in the UK, get thy backside down to Regent Street on the 6th July at 18:00, as they're going to be closing off the roads and running the F1 cars through the capital. Now wouldn't THAT be a race to see if Silverstone isn't a suitable venue?

Sidenote - Monaco may look impressive, but my god does the racing suck-didly-uck. Problem is the very thing that gives it the glamor, racing the streets, makes overtaking impossible. Unless you're Columbian apparently 😀
