yes there is a downside...this is like the first summer i've had hair this long in hmm since the mid 80's...i wore my hair in a short pixie style until april two years ago when i decided to allow it to grow..at first i was just going to grow it to my chin...then i liked how it looked and decided to keep on going...

anyway...so now it's at it's longest..the downside...my neck gets all sweaty when i work out ...... yesterday after getting out of the hottub, my rubber band got stuck in my hair and i couldn't get it out..grrrrrrr it tangles so much more now..i do have a de tangler but still...and in the morning after i dry it..and btw it takes forever to dry the back part...grr again...i then have to use a straightening iron to give it that "shine" sigh...that according to my husband...try using that damn hot iron while in the throes of a terrific hotflash..i got my brush tangled up in it the other day while drying it..damn...

the upside is...i do get the looks..mmm which i like...and i got carded on my last birthday at TGIF's as they card anyone under 40....and i get mistaken for my husband's daugher at times hehehe...ahhh poor david..ok ok that sounded vain..but when i was younger, i was too shy to appreciate the looks and attention i would get..and now i think it's funny that at my age i get looks from guys young enough to be my sons....mmm i don't think any girl or woman gets tired of that..

My hair was down past my shoulders for most of my life...until about 4 years ago...cut most of it off...then made a bet with my best friend that if we both got into our respective grad school programs, we would have to shave our heads...well, I'm officially a PT and had to shave my head a few years ago...and have kept it short ever since. My hair is so thick that it's unbearable in the summer when it's long. I miss having it in the winter to keep my neck and ears warm, but hats/scarves take care of that.

I vote do whatever makes you happiest in regards to hair...you have to live with your hair, no one else.

And...you rock my stocks. Just sayin'.

you rock my stocks also...

and hmm thinking about this thread..it seems rather egoish...sighs..i could take out the part about the looks...

Not at all isabeau... I happen to think long hair on a woman is quite sexy.

lol, be glad you have this problem, i was born into a family that both sides has very bald men, so i'm screwed, and at this rate, i'll be completely bald by 30. dang thinning hair and receding hairline...

^ BigNorm..i adore the shaved/bald look on men..add an earring and maybe a goatee and mmmmmmmmmmm wow...

my poor dad lost the hair on top of his head at the age of twenty five..so he always looked older than he was...

which is what i plan to do. if you look at my profile, you can see my pic, and my already awesome goatee :super_hap

with my luck, i will be bald at 25. my grand dad had it worse and was mostly bald by 20. i would shave my head sooner, but aparently the stupid doc that delivered me at birth used forceps on me, and now my skull has a funny triangular look. hehe.

I can never ride in a car with the window down anymore. My hair gets all tangled/knotted because it's so long now, even if I have it tied back which I do most of the time anyway. I won't be cutting it, though. I've always looked better with long hair. Any time I have cut it short, I end up disappointed.

I've worn my hair at varying lengths of long most of my life once I was past 18 (much to my father's displeasure). Right now it's pretty much just above my shoulders.

I used to want my hair straight but then I learned how to make it look good with it's natural curliness and waviness.

When I go to the gym, I usually just tie it back with a plain old hair tie I steal from my girlfriend. The rubber bands I used to use just damage your hair and get caught.

As to looks from younger.... I used to experience what I used to call ' Silly Season'. A certain time of the year when girls who were way too young would check me out and even try to chat me up. It was funny. Don't get that anymore... and, to tell the truth, I'm glad it ended. It would have really gotten creepy after a while. I'm no pedophile.

And it three days to Isabeau's anniversary. Happy early anniversary.

My hair is really thick and curly, but with the size of my giant noggin, I would be way too scared to go short.

Currently, it's just past my shoulders.

Some problems include:

1. Having to buy 2 boxes of hair dye to complete the process.

2. Straightening takes 30 minutes to an hour.

3. Shaving my head starts to seem like a good idea during summer months.

4. Living in the "Windy City" and your hair blowing all over your face / in your eyes.

5. Shedding

6. Tangles.

That's all I can think of for now, but I feel your pain. 🙂

I can't wear my hair much past shoulder length owing to the tropical heat and humidity most of the year in these parts. At home I often put it in a ponytail to keep it off my neck.

i think you look good with long hair..its more "you" 😉 i had long hair once apon a time..was a pain in the ass to look after, wash, etc..would wake up eating it alot of times. one day about 10-11 years ago i got fed up with it all and chopped it all off. since then, ive got more old and started to get larry fine of the 3 stooges syndrome..

so for the past 5 years or so i've just done the shave it all psyudo telle savalas look to hide it and it keeps me lookin about 10 yrs younger..youd never know i was an old grumpy bald SOB:shock:

lol dskodj i know you..you pretend to be all grumpy and what not..and i bet you looked super cool with long hair..but i like how you look now..

i do like the long hair look on men, as long as it's clean..to me nothing sexier than a man with a pony tail..in a suit..with an earring..mmm but it must be clean...where i grocery shop, there is this guy who wears his hair in a pony tail..and he is around meat etc...and his is greasy icky looking...

and i used to be one of those pony tail wearin guys..the steven sagal look LOL LOL my hair was always smooth and clean (except in a few old pics i seen recently from a good friend that he took when we were wasted way back in the day - what a riot those were!)

and trust me..i am grumpy..and old...and always tickle horny when i actually take some time to breath and not be working on things..like now 😉 but i am kinda hungry..so that kills the tickle horny till after i stuff my face!

you silly man...if you are old then i am ancient..we've had this chat before my friend..

Every time I get my hair done a hairstylist always comments that my hair is the thickest they've ever seen - so it kind of goes without saying that my hair's pretty thick. It gets pretty darn hot and annoying in the summer, but I don't really care, I like my hair and don't care how long it gets really.

And yes, way to go isabeau, and stating the facts at a TGIF's can be seen as a little vain, but it's just stating the facts. It's not really your fault if people think something bad of you or not (which I don't, just to let you know. :super_hap). Way to go to be proud of how amazingly beautiful you look now! :ggrin:
