The earth just moved!

We just had a 6.5 magnitude quake here in California. It was centered around San Simeon home of the famous Hearst Castle.

I live and work in San Jose. We felt it for about 30-40 seconds non-stop(a very long time actually). The ground kinda rolls back and forth. We didn't have any damage up here but boy we sure felt it. The hanging lights in the office were swaying and everyone felt kinda dizzy.

Want to know what an earthquake feels like? Ever been in a plane? Know how the plane moves a bit as you're flying? That's what a earthquake feels like.

In typical California fashion we started a poll at work on the magnitude. I guessed 5.8 but a team member guessed 6.2 so she was closer!

yeah...I saw that on the news...I lived in Paso Robles back in the late 70's. lovely little town. sad to hear some died there today.

I remember laying out on the beach just north of Moro Bay once, just about to nod out, when all of a sudden I was shaken from side to side by what I assumed was a small tremor. nevertheless, still a freaky feeling.

To be honest, if I were to say, "The earth just moved!" I would prefer the meaning to be completely different! 🙂

I agree with you lite! That meaning "The earth moved" has two distinct meanings to me as well.

We're all just fine. I feel bad for the folks in Paso Robles where they lost two ladies and several were hurt pretty bad.

But... I'll take the earthquakes over snow, hurricanes and tornados anytime. You never know when they're coming. You don't have time to get scared. And generally they're minor little shakes.

I'm glad you're ok, QB and the rest of you guys on the left coast. Personally, I think the earthquakes are a plot by the folks living in Arizona. Think about it. They've purchased desert wasteland fairly cheap, but if they get California to fall into the sea they've got beach-front property! Ah yes - that Pawz is a sly boots.
