To all of Estelle's Fans,

Sadly, today July 22, 2008 at 5:35 a.m. Pacific Time, we said our last good-byes to our little friend Estelle, who passed away and made her journey to the great beyond. Although it was a trip that she never wanted to take, she went gracefully, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family and her very loving care-givers.

Estelle's legacy will live on and on through the comedy and laughter she gave to us all, which will forever keep us laughing out loud.

For us here, who have known and cared for her for so many years, we've lost our dear little friend who always kept us entertained by filling our days with joyful laughter. Estelle's fans across the globe have lost the feisty little lady known as Sophia Petrillo, whose quick wit, cutting remarks, and outrageous punch lines will forever be quoted and remembered.

Estelle was a fighter. She always stood up for the underdogs, fought for equality for all, and always pictured a world filled with "Love and Laughter" --her most favorite catch phrase.

Estelle, we love you and will miss you dearly. We pray that you are met at the Pearly Gate with open arms and a warm welcome by all who have passed before you. If there's a stage over there, I know you'll be on it. If there's a thrift shop, I know you'll be shopping, and if there's a deli, I know you'll be eating there holding court with Rhoda and Sylvia ... and the laughter will be heard throughout the heavens.

Goodbye, dear friend. Thank you for all the talent and love that you've shared with us during your time here on Earth. You have touched my life, and the lives of so many others who will never forget you.

Until we meet again...

Love and Laughter to You,

Paul Chapdelaine

Awww, I loved watching the Golden Girls and Estelle Getty was hilarious in that show. May she rest in peace.

She was fantastic. So sad, but at least she was able to live a good long life. RIP Estelle.

I loved Estelle Getty :-( She totally made the golden girls. And who can forget "Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot"? She will indeed be missed.

I just read this thread as of now and I had no clue and I had no idea that Estelle Getty just passed away yesterday July 22, 2008. Oh what a shame and a tragedy, but know she is in a greater more wonderful place in Heaven.

I loved the "Golden Girls" and I still love to watch reruns of the "Golden Girls" on lifetime and on dvd collection me and ticklebear 2 have as our personal collection eventually hope to own the whole entire collection. I loved Estelle Getty, she was so funny and hilarious a real comic genius. A real sweetheart and seemed like she would be so friendly and so kind. I would have loved to have met her. She was one of the ones my grandma, my dad's mom loved to watch sooo much when she loved to watch "Golden Girls" one of her favorite all time shows. My grandma passed away years ago May 2001 and god rest her, she was a wonderful great woman and I loved my grandmother very much, her name was Slyvia.
But she loved to be called Marie. But look on the bright side-now my grandma will get to meet Estelle Getty and get to be friends for eternity.

God rest you grandma Marie, rest in peace, love you very much and u are dearly and greatly missed and always will be remembered and God rest in peace also Estelle Getty. I will dearly miss you and you will be fondly remembered forever and I will fondly miss you and remember you, love you both grandman and Estelle-hugs

Thanks for the love and thanks for the laughs, love u both, enjoy heaven and see you there someday peace and love and laughter and hugs

I know what you are saying tickmankyle1 I loved Estelle Getty-she was one of my favorites in the Golden Girls. She always made me laugh and she always made me smile-that show always brightened my night every time I would watch it.
So I agree with you kyle, rest in peace Estelle.:twohugs: hugst to u kyle:twohugs::twohugs::twohugs:

awwww man.. she was the best.. and did you ever see her in real life... they made her look so old in Golden girls... RIP. sweety

I watched "The Golden Girls" myself, both when I was younger and recently. My grandmother watched it religiously and when she babysat me I remember watching this. The show I think still airs now on the Lifetime channel.

I think this show, at least for most guys, is the show that everyone loves but is afraid to admit it. People just think it's about "little old ladies" but it was much more than that and the show was quite risqué for its time on public tv.

I watched the "Golden Girls" all the time and still watch the them on Lifetime and I have the first two seasons of the series. Estelle Getty made the show come alive. Yes, Dimples, they did make Estelle look so old on the show. Who can forget about her role on "Stop or My Mom Will Shoot". The world lost a great comedian and actress in Estelle Getty. Rest In Peace Estelle and God Bless you. She was a beautiful lady.
