Wow.... I am still in shock. I have been watching the LA Kings since Gretzky showed up in 1988 and the thought of winning the Stanley Cup was so far out there. In 1993, I thought we were going to win it but "Stickgate" happened and they lost.
In 2012, the Kings made history and won the Stanley Cup. It was a lifelong dream for many Kings fans who thought they would never live to see the day we can celebrate the most cherished trophy in ALL sports. I am sure we also figured, this might be a once in a lifetime thing...
2014. One of the most incredible playoff runs in NHL and sports history. Down 3-0 to the San Jose Sharks, they rally to win the series by winning game 7 on the road. They face the Ducks who had a season to remember. Kings go down 3-2, win that series in Game 7 on the road. They face the team that eliminated them in 2013, and defending Stanley Cup champions Chicago Blackhawks. They are up 3-1, let Chicago get back in and win game 7 on the road. They make the Stanley Cup finals again...
The NY Rangers have a tremendous goalie in Lundqvist. But the Kings took a 3-0 lead, lost game 4 and won game 5 in double OT on one of the most electric plays. Kings win the Stanley Cup for the 2nd time in 3 years.
Honestly, I was hoping they faced the Canadians in the finals to get revenge for 1993, but I am extremely happy. Just wow.... Another championship to the city of Los Angeles
