The Last Laugh is back with "Last Laugh Isa 1" (foot tickling, FF/F)

Hello everyone!

After a very long period without new releases I’m happy to finally present Last Laugh Isa 1. It's the very first scene I filmed with my new camcorder (my old one broke down some time ago). I must admit that, after being out of the game for over a year and knowing that the market has only become even more competitive, I’m a bit nervous about joining the fray once again. I don't know how well my new clips will be received. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

In any case, more clips should follow in the near future. If you're curious to know why it’s been so long since my last update or to learn more about my new stuff you’re welcome to read all about it in the following post. For now, here's the description of the new clip:

Frederique: 19, 5'5", size 8.5
Jade: 20, 5'7", size 8.5
Nicky: 22, 5'9", size 8

Her friends Frederique and Nicky peel off her goofy socks (they have 'Left Foot' and 'Right Foot' written on the soles and are worn on the wrong feet).They waste little time digging in. Through her laughter, Jade comments on how intense it is for her and how being unable to do anything to escape the tickling is driving her insane. She threatens her friends with ticklish retaliation, but that doesn’t help her case at all. As if she wasn’t helpless enough, leather cuffs are added to her big toes a couple of minutes later to limit her movements even further. This is especially useful for when Frederique and Nicky add some oral tickling to Jade's ordeal, licking and nibbling her toes. (Language: French)"

Now, I don’t expect many people to be particularly interested in what’s been going on behind the scenes since I stopped releasing clips back in 2010. But in case some are curious I’d like to explain what happened, as well as give you an idea what to expect from my future releases. I apologize in advance is this bores you to tears.

The main reason for the long break is that my old camcorder died on me back in 2009, after 8 years of service. At that point I seriously considered the option of simply quitting altogether, never to release new clips again. But I eventually decided to buy a new camcorder. It was a close call, though.

The footage I got with my old camcorder allowed me to release clips until mid-2010. By then I had bought my new camcorder, but it was new technology to me, involving a new video format (it’s HD). I had to learn new software and a new process for producing my videos, creating the promotional material (sample pics and clips), etc. To be perfectly honest I found this a daunting task that I put aside for a long time. It also felt good to take a break from editing videos. However, I did use the new camcorder to shoot new material. In fact, I currently have enough raw footage for at least 15 new series. I still can’t believe how crazy I went with shoots before I was even sure I could edit the material. But after procrastinating for many months I managed to sit down and learn the new software and stuff. Hopefully I’ll release new clips more regularly from now on.

As previously mentioned, unlike my old camcorder the new one is high definition, which is pretty standard nowadays. However, one shouldn’t expect my new clips to be professional masterpieces. HD doesn’t magically make technical problems disappear. I’m still very much an amateur videographer, and I still make mistakes on a regular basis. My apartment is still not an ideal location in terms of lighting (despite my two 500-watt lighting kits). Also, comparatively speaking, one could say that my old camcorder was of higher quality. It certainly cost me a lot more than the new one. I miss some of its capabilities. On the other hand, the new camcorder benefits from technology that’s 10 years younger. And the HD factor doesn’t hurt. So I'd say it balances out, and the HD footage might actually be better overall.

As for audio, I think I used the internal microphone for the Last Laugh Isa shoot, but after that I started using a mounted mic. The problem with this is that some bumping noises can sometimes be heard when I mess with the tripod and move the camcorder around. A pity, but it’s much more convenient than my old system (a separate mic on a stand with a painfully short cord). In any case, I hope it won’t prove to be too much of an annoyance.

I debated for a long time about whether I should offer HD clips. I mean, it’s an HD camcorder, so it goes without saying, right? But like I said, HD doesn’t necessarily mean a perfect picture, and I find that reducing the picture’s size improves its quality. Generally speaking, the picture looks sharper. So for a while I considered only offering 852x480 versions of my new clips. That format is 1/3 larger than my old clips (640x480), so it’s already an improvement. But I realize that more and more producers are offering HD clips these days and that customers have become used to them. So I decided to offer my clips in both 1280x720 HD and 852x480 formats [EDIT: this has already changed, as mentioned in the edit below]. Maybe I’ll eventually drop one format in the future [EDIT: I have]. I certainly don’t like the idea of cluttering my store with two versions of each clip. But for now I’m curious to see how successful each one will be. I get the feeling HD will prevail. Still, my personal preference remains the 852x480 format. I just feel it looks a little better. I wish I knew how many sales I’d lose if I didn’t offer HD clips. If the losses weren’t that bad (say 10% or less) I’d definitely stick with 852x480 and avoid HD.

[EDIT: for a variety of reasons I've decided to drop the HD format and to go with the 852x480 resolution for all of my clips after all. I'm very sorry if this comes as a disappointment to some people]

Oh yeah, I should mention that I decided not to make DVD versions of future productions. In fact, I’ve pretty much decided to stop offering that format altogether. I’m very sorry if this disappoints loyal customers who’ve bought many of my DVDs in the past. But the demand is really low nowadays, and the process of burning DVDs and shipping them is really tedious. It’s just not worth it anymore.

Welcome back! reading what you have written here makes me sigh and think, "Thank goodness, I am not alone". Getting to grips with the software can be a pain especially if you have the dayjob, family and other social engagements. It can be quite a juggling act.

I'm not a foot-guy, so this particular video isn't for me - but I too am glad you're back. Your videos were always real and some of them had new and cool ideas that were picked up by other producers down the line. I for one really don't care if a video is HD or not. If HD is available I go for it, but have never avoided buying a video because it wasn't HD.
