Or how about when you're taking a jeep tour during your trip in the Caribbean to see a crab-like object cross the road in front of you...only it wasn't a crab since we were pretty high up and confirmed when we got close: picture a crab-sized spider and voila!

That's acctually not a bad idea. How do I tell it's radio active? This one seemed to have been flashing green, but that's pretty normal for around this area due to pollution and what not. =|

i used to work in radiation, but you can't tell easily if it's radioactive or not.

Best way to tell is to get a multimeter, as set it to sence voltage

most radiation has a charge of either 1- or 2+ which means that even if you get a small reading from the air around the spider(.3-.5 inches from it's exoskeleton) it's radioactive.

but i'd say that you probably saw a wolf spider. they get to be as large as 2.5 inches around, and their eyes shine green when light reflects off them, just like a cats will.

their harmless though. i've picked one up barehanded and it didn't bite me. plus their venom is less toxic than a stick from most hornets or yellow jackets. so as long as your not allergic, it really can't hurt you.
