The Original Incredible Hulk (Bill Bixby/Lou Ferigno)

Ok, heres a thread about the orignal TV show (1977 - 1982). I havent seen the new film yet and I heard it sucked also. But I will see it eventualy. I am a fan of the original show which im glad to say is back for a short time on the Sci Fi channel every weeknight at 6PM. To me i really dont think it would be the same without Bill Bixby and Lou Ferigno. But again, this is coming from someone who hasnt seen the film. I never read comic books and know the hulk from the show. I know its David Banner in the show and Bruce Banner in the comic and now this movie. Why the difference? But anyway, what I wanna know is are there any fans of the original show out here and anyone that watches it on sci fi every weeknight? Let me know😀

PS There will also be nothin better than the famous line " mr. mgee, dont make me angry, you wouldnt like me when im angry" which I also heard theres no Mr Mgee in the film?

I loved the old series (which wasn't based on the more fanciful comics in any way other than this bloke betting big, green and mean when he was angry) and have about 60 episodes of it on VHS, including both pilot movies.

I really must resume my fancy-dress party stunt one day. 😀

Fan of the show. It was so awesome to see Lou do a cameo in the movie.
I heard that the reason they changed his name from Bruce(comic book) to David(TV) is that in the 70's Bruce was considered a gay name, so they changed it to David. Like I said That is what I heard.

That is true. there's also another, less-known reason. They were sick of alliteration in comic book heroes. Clarke Kent, Lois Lane, Bruce Banner, Peter Parker, Matt Murdoch etc.

Ya know Ive never seen the original pilot movie to this day! Im trying to download it off of Winmx but its taking forever! Where did you get the 60 episodes on VHS? Id like to get some lol. I been recording some off the sci fi channel but when im not home to edit out comercials i got em with comercials and they show too too many and kinda ruins it. The episode that was on tonight was "Stop The Press". The one where David is working as a dishwasher at an italian resturant (with Pat Morita aka Mr Miogee lol as the cheif) and the National Register is planting garbage and shit in the kitchen tryin to make a scandal and then David and theese gals that own the place have to go try to steal the photos. Was a cool episode and The Hulk and Mr Mgee come face to face but they are both shot by some kinda pellet so they dont remember lol. Anyone remember this episode? I remembered it when it started showing tonight..was great!

I remember that Episode, but not very well. Over 50 of my episodes were recorded from the Sci-Fi channel, which we get on cable. I've also got most of series 1 in a triple cassette VHS edition that was on sale here. Both pilot movies I bought on VHS in one tape and I also found a special edition DVD that has 3 epiodes on it. Sadly, I only have a couple of the big 2-parters and none of the re-union movies.

Like you, my entire frame of reference for the Hulk comes from the T.V. show. Loved it growing up and catch it when I can on Sci-Fi. Also, the closing image of David walking away, alone, with that haunting closing theme melody made a lasting impression on me.

Terorizer: Did you know there's a disco version of the haunting theme? (aka Lonley Man Theme). It's actualy pretty awsome if you like classic disco/funk music. They've played it on the show in 2 different episodes. In "Married" it's in the background while David walks into a bar to find his dying wife. Then the entire thing is played in a disco dance scene in the episode "Alice In Disco Land". I have about 3 different extended mixes I've created of it. Love It!

With the release of the new movie, I'm certain there'll be a massive market for episodes and movies from the old series. The first two reunion movies (The Incredible Hulk Returns and Trial Of The Incredible Hulk) are pretty awful and were thinly diguised attempts by Marvel, at launching series for two of their characters into series of their own. (Thor and Daredevil.) Even then, I like them a hell of a lot more than the newest pile of filth. PErhaps it's because Bill Bixby was an actor with actual talent? Heh heh. Sure he was no movie star, but he had a proven pedigree before he arrived at the series. IT was because of his portrayal of David Banner that the series was as long-lasting as it was.

Yea I did hear those reunion movies were bad for the most part and about the whole thing with the comic book people coming into them. This new movie that I heard is total crap from all the Hulk show fans..is it still in the movies? or is it on video? One person over in the scifi hulk forum said the director needs to be shot lol. I'll defenatly have to see it to see what it is. Whats the whole storyline of it?

The contact lenses I bought from an opticians and the wig, facial prosthetic makeup and paint came from various novelty shops. The clothes were just ones that were about 8 sizes too small for me and ripped to shreds.
