Do you believe in the paranormal? Are you unsure if anything exists outside of our world? Do you think that there is no other world? Are you a believer, a skeptic, or a mix of the two?

I'm an open-minded skeptic. I believe a lot of things are possible, and a lot of weird things happen, but I want them to be proveable and testable.

Eyewitnesses are so unreliable, myself included, that if something can't stand the scrutiny of real science I tend to be pretty dismissive of it.

I do believe in the paranormal. "Paranormal" just means outside of the normal, and a lot of strange, unexplainable things happen. I'm a huge fan of the show "Ghost Hunters" on the Sci-Fi network. They go out with scientific equipment to supposedly haunted locations and try to DISPROVE hauntings. Taking this approach give them a lot of credibility to me, yet they still find strange, unexplainable phenomena in certain places. To me, this, along with thousands of other reports by credible people, is proof of the paranormal.

Now the details of the "other world" are still a mystery to me. Despite certain people thinking they've figured it out, I don't think anyone knows any details about it.

That makes two of us.

I take solace in knowing that the things we haven’t learned about the universe (yet) are much more spectacular than we could ever imagine at this point. We just need to keep looking.

Believer!

I do believe in the paranormal--not because I want to, but because I lived in a house for seven years back in IL that had a great deal of paranormal activity throughout the time my family resided there; everything from residual hauntings to full-bodied apparitions to intelligent haunting, and it was happening way before T.A.P.S. was even a gleam in a television producer's eye. I, too, am now a huge fan of "Ghost Hunters", probably as a result of those early experiences.

I had the bejabbers scared out of me on a regular basis, as did many visiting guests. But I just accepted it, it was part of everyday life for me. Nothing ever tried to hurt any of us, so I just kind of learned to co-exist. 🙂

Quoted for truth.

"Other World" seems to suggest something along the lines of supernatural as well (not just paranormal -- there is a difference)...

With the strangeness of how the universe works at the quantum level, it's hard not to be open minded, but with the degree to which there are all manner of charlatan looking to take advantage of the faithful at a moment's notice, is wise to be skeptical as well.

I for one have never seen a medium, psychic, tarot card reader or aura reader do their gig without resorting to techniques found in cold reading. If you, too want to play a psychic on TV, I'm told THE authoritative, most absolutely encyclopedic book on the subject is the "Full Facts Book of Cold Reading" by Ian Rowland, available only at his site, ianrowland.com . I have yet to get mine, but I know a bit about it.

It should be noted that once magician, now debunker and professional skeptic James Randi and his Educational Foundation has had a $1,000,000 Challenge for some time and invited all manner of psychics, dowsers, telekinetics and whathaveyou to step forward and prove their mettle, including famed psychic and perpetrator of securities fraud and grand larceny Sylvia Browne who once accepted, but never subjected herself to the actual challenge. Among those who've tried, no one has ever demonstrated any supernatural ability nor been able to claim the prize money.

However, Sylvia says the temperature of Heaven is a steady 78°F (25.6°C), for those who want to know. 🙂

Click here to check out Randi's Critique of popular psychic John Edward. Critiques of this nature, I think, are very important, as public belief in this sort thing can result in serious ramifications. John Edward, for example, was once asked to weigh in on the Terry Schiavo situation while she was still on life support.

In 2010, the Million Dollar Challenge will be dissolved to free the money up for other purposes. Already, there have been detractors who are suggesting the money was never there to begin with, but it still is, if anyone wants to try...

i believe in it cuz i believe that anything is. i havent had much experience but that doesnt mean that it doesnt exsist.

Yes, I am a believer in the paranormal. Why? Eh, I suppose because I've never believed that everything in this world is as black and white as one might think.

yes i believe in ghosts and demons but in order for me to be convinced i have to see some hard evidence which is why i dont believe in psychics or clairvoyants * even tho thats a good song by Iron Maiden * because its very easy to fake anybody can go into a supposed haunted place and listen to the storys about supposed paranormal activity then go walk around and say " oh im getting a feeling from over here " then say something after that that coinsides with the storys they just heard.

Watch Penn & Teller's Bullshit on Ghostbusters and you'll get your answer.

I have never had any paranormal experiences, so my answer is, no, I don't believe in another world.

I'm a 100% believer. I really thought about writing a book on the subject coming right out of high school relaying stories of experiences.

My parents house have had many "happenings" when I lived there. Once I got a grasp of what was going on when I was older, it helped explain a few things that happened when I was younger and I just thought I heard or saw things. I've flat out seen a figure twice,(not a shape kind of like a person, but a person) both times in the presence of other people. As I mentioned in the other thread, I will always try to disprove anything I experience beyond a shadow of a doubt before filing something away to myself as such.

Beyond that, a close friend that lived 2 blocks over growing up lived in a house that was, whatever you want to call it, haunted(goofy word lol), "occupied" so to speak. I can care less what anyone in the world thinks, it had an energy, spirit, ghost whatever of a Confederate soldier (is how his was dressed the 3 times the family saw him) in the house. The house is about 114 years old. I've "personally" seen doors fly open and slam shut, usually when "he" was upset. To the family it was nothing, because they always lived with it. To me, it was downright disturbing, but it/he never bothered with them.

I don't know what it is, or why it happens in places. I've studied the subject for a long time and hear all kind of ideas on why, but no one really knows. Is a ghost a memory, a lost soul, or just residual energy in certain places? No clue, but I do believe it happens all over. I also tend to think some people are more receptive to it than others. It's always an interesting and fun topic to talk about. If you enjoy the subject, Troy Taylor has been in the game for a long time and has a cool site, "Ghosts on the Prairie". If you are ever traveling down I-10 through Baton Rouge, make a 30 minute drive north to St Francisville for a tour of The Myrtles Plantation, especially on Sat nights.

I've never witnessed anything that would make me think that paranormal activity is possible. That said, I can't say it doesn't either. I know I am really easily scared so even if someone were to suggest that a room I was in was haunted or something, I would get pretty spooked and probably read too much into any noises I heard and such. I think that happens a lot actually with people and "ghost stories." As for aliens, if they count as paranormal, I'm pretty sure there are some out there somewhere.

You forgot our little ghost friend that's here! The one at the end of the hall.. Ed.. Fred.. whatever we call him lol. He scares the hell out of me sometimes! (Oh, lordy and the attic noises.. Like how much freaking noise can something make! I finally heard it at like 5 am last night)

So needless to say, to the OP yes I believe in the "Paranormal" as I believe that we can't be the only ones on a planet. I don't need the "paranormal" proved to me, I've had plenty experiences (one's that have completely almost made me piss myself) but, As far as people on another planet or anything like that. I'd like to have proof of that.
