Where can a member read about the mechanics and logistics of the thing in the profile which says, "<I>Send so_and_so a Private Message!</I>" (where so_and_so is the User-ID of a given member).
Related question; how does member so_and_so know if he\she has such a private message ?
Heads-Up, some members are still on dial-up lines and connect at speeds below 50K (tonight I'm getting 50,667 which is above average for my phone lines) so I leave images off when I go on the web.
