The speed of the TMF and keeping pace

Question arising from a phone conversation earlier tonight.

The TMF moves at a very fast pace. Threads are born and die at a very fast pace. New members arise and contribute faster than ever before. The pace of life away from the TMF isn't exactly slow either. It's hard to keep up with everything.

Do you feel that you keep up with everything? Do you feel you miss things on the TMF or in real life that you miss? Do you ever feel left out or forgotten if you don't get mentioned or PM'd? Does/can the TMF make you feel lonesome?

It can be lonely. I've gotten Pmd more since I upped my posting by about 500%, but I haven't received any visitor messages, and whilst I don't feel lonely, it's not exactly the nicest feeling in the world ever.

I guess I should have a sex change operation, or develop some sort of endearing personality :nicethread:

I miss nothing, This will sound geeky, but I have 3 tabs for the TMF on my browser,

TMF main page
New posts
Read all

When ive not been on for a while, il click new posts and work my way thru them, when at the end of however many pages there is (usually 3-8) do the same again until im on top of things and then I mark them all read, then every so ofter il check "new posts" and then wipe them off again with "mark read" The onlythings I miss are things I choose not to read, But i will have seen that the thread is active.

Tis very sad but im like that 😛 🙂

You've described my future technique....:man:

Do you feel that you keep up with everything?

I don't even try to keep up with everything.

Do you ever feel left out or forgotten if you don't get mentioned or PM'd?

If i don't get mentioned somewhere?Naw that does not bother me.There are people i'd like to hear from by pm more often but they have lives afterall.Sometimes i send a pm to someone i don't know just to say hi and introduce myself and never hear back.I try not to take it personally.

Does/can the TMF make you feel lonesome?

Sometimes yes.The forum is changing and i'm a lot older then most people here.I"m not up on the music,tv shows and all those things you younger people like.Thats not your fault, its just the way things are.:smilestar

Not sure what you really mean here. Things come and go here as they do in real life. Nothing ever really stops. Here, at least you can go back and read previous posts, catch up on something that interests you and decide if you wanna comment or not. In real life, you can always just ask what they were talking about and decide whether or not you wanna join in.

Do you feel that you keep up with everything?

I agree with Bugman, I don't really try.

And if there's a thread I'm not interested in I simply don't contribute. Sometimes a thread isn't my business or doesn't concern me.

Do you feel you miss things on the TMF or in real life that you miss?

???

Not sure what you mean, so I'll just say I don't consider 'missing anything on the TMF' to be a 'big deal' most of the time.

I come to converse; if I miss out on a good convo I'll move on.

Do you ever feel left out or forgotten if you don't get mentioned or PM'd?

Nope. This place isn't about me.

Does/can the TMF make you feel lonesome?

Not any more than I already do.:upsidedow

Do you feel that you keep up with everything?

I dont make a point of trying to but in the past year or so the forums have been seen alot more things going on

Do you feel you miss things on the TMF or in real life that you miss?

If i miss something in the TMF i'm not fussed my real life comes first

Do you ever feel left out or forgotten if you don't get mentioned or PM'd?

No. I've always been fairly out of sight on here. I post when i see something i feel like posting about, and with that ethos you tend to not get much in the way of PM's or mentions, Fine by me

Does/can the TMF make you feel lonesome?

I don't know why anyone can think that. It reminds me that im not alone when it comes to tickling, Which is the point of this forum.

I kept up with the P&R Forum a while, but now the furor's died down (or perhaps my interest has), and so now I just putter about aimlessly, posting occasionally to random threads until I realize I've got other stuff that needs doing.

I have a bookmark that takes me straight to GenDis, and another straight to the Inbox. I see the rest only rarely.

I miss out on chat a lot, because it's not conducive to my schedule. It's just easier to see something, post, and come back later.

But no -- I know I don't keep up with everything, but if I did, I'd never get anything done or have time to draw or hang with my friends IRL.

I SUCK at keeping up with stuff on this forum. I try to check the general discussion every
other day at least, and post when I spontaneously think of something to add (like now)
I felt like I wasn't missed or remembered a while when I was away from the forum. I know
now that that was all silly, because the members here I call my friends aren't those who forget about people.

The TMF makes me feel the opposite of lonesome. The people here know of my deepest secret
and that makes it easier to start a conversation. Most of the members are open and
positive towards others and that adds to the feeling of belonging.

Not everything, but I keep up with the things that I'm interested in.

Do you feel you miss things on the TMF or in real life that you miss?

No, I don't feel that way. 😛

Do you ever feel left out or forgotten if you don't get mentioned or PM'd?

Not at all, I don't need constant attention to feel part of the community.

Does/can the TMF make you feel lonesome?

No, it makes me feel that there is a community with friends waiting for me online. I do wish I could attend more gatherings, though.
