The Think Tank needs your opinion....

I'm in the process of some major site renovations. A recent thread brought up the need for more information to be available about sites so that folks know what they're going to get when they click on a link. First, here's the original links page as it stands right now...

I've begun a bit of reformatting to hopefully make things easier to find. This will be the new format...

Obviously, it's just getting set up. But, you can see how it will look. The ratings for sites will be in that column and the various mediums offered will be marked with an "X" under each type they have. The table column deviders will show up once there's something in there. So, you'll be able to follow a column all the way down if you're looking for a specific type of material. IF folks like this new format, I may at some point link the individual icons for the types of material to kick you over to a new page that includes all sites with that medium. Whatcha think, gang?

Now that the rain has cleared out, I need to get back to yard work. So, this will give a few days for folks to let me know what they think of the new format. So, if you'd take a couple minutes to look and respond to the poll, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hmmmm.....135 views to date and no responses? Does this mean that I should just leave things be and not waste my time with reformatting? I've got plenty of other stuff to do. So, that's not a problem at all if the current format is enough for people. Remember, folks. The only way I know what you want/need to know is if you actually tell me. 😉

Thanks to those who've responded so far. To whomever was unsure of the new format, if you read this, could you let me know what you're unsure of? All constructive criticism is welcome. No need to be uncomfortable about stating what you think. Who knows? It might prove very useful and make for a much better way of doing things. So, feel free to speak up.

OK, we have our first vote to go back to the original format. So, I should probably make a point here.

No matter which format is used, all the same information wil be available. It will just be easier, I think, to spot things with the new format. Plus it will save me considerable time in having to write things out. The time, while a factor, is fine. I'll spend whatever time it takes.

If the thing that isn't liked about the new format is using the pictures rather than words at the column heads, that's easily changed. So, for those who aren't sure or prefer the old format, if that's your reason, speak up and I can make that change. It's not a big deal to me one way or another. I only did the images to keep the columns a more uniform and smaller width. So, whatever folks find easier for finding the information they want, that's what I'll do.

This poll is my only way of getting that feedback. So, if you have an opinion/preference, vote...and post as well if there's something specific you have to say. I'm going to start gathering the info. either way. At the end of the month, I'll see where things stand and plug things in to whichever format folks prefer.

One other thing I should mention... I received a note form someone asking about including designations about targets.....feet, pits, bellies, etc. I've already responded to that note. But, I wanted to mention it here for anyone else who may be wondering about it. This is something I tried to include once before. It ended up being much more work to do that because of different things being included in updates. Once this is set up, I won't be visitting sites for this type of intensive information gathering again...at least not any time soon. So, it's just not practical to do.

However, as I go through gathering the rest of the information, I WILL make note of this information as well. If I can come up with a way to make it work, I'll add it in or make it available another way. I know that nearly every site out there has foot tickling included. So, I won't even bother doing a list for that. But, the harder to find stuff like pits, etc. I'll try to find a way to designate at some point.

Meanwhile back at the ranch...

The rain is back...and I didn't feel like yard work today anyway. So, I'll start plugging some info. into the new page while I have laundry running. This will give you a better feel for how the finished product will look. That might help folks decide what they want to see for format. Thanks again to those who've responded. Your input does help.
