If we're talking about dream cars...you can keep your Ferraris and Diablos and such...and give me a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air. Always wanted one, always will. My one and only dream car.
If we're talking about the "coolest" car we've ever had...I'd say my old 1979 Monte Carlo. It's the only one I ever put a lot of work into (I'm not really much of a motorhead...just get me from A to B and I'm happy). It was mint with the tan/gold-flecked paint job and I added gold mag rims, tinted windows and a shitload of extras. I loved that car...wrapped it around a tree. Such is life.
NOW...
If you're talking about the BEST car we ever had...I'm gonna shock some people here. My old 1977 Dodge Aspen. You know the Aspen...it was the "Good" Dart. The vinyl roof was peeling all over, the back doors were held closed by bungee cords, you could see the road through the driver-side floorboard (which was covered by a piece of plywood) and I had to rig a push-button switch for the ignition. However, it had the greatest engine ever created by American ingenuity...the Slant 6. I had a hole in my oil pan for two weeks and didn't even know about it. I ran without oil, the engine never went. I ran without water, the engine never quit. That car was like a friggin' truck in the snow. I was living at my grandparents' at the time and they had a half-mile dirt road that led down to thier land...in the winter, the only two vehicles that could make it in and out were my grandfather's truck and my Aspen.
It looked like shit, but I loved that damn car. 😎
