We in America watched the Women's World Cup in '99, but when a women's soccer league started up, it folded within a year.
Record numbers of people in the USA watch the men's World Cup every 4 years, but the MLS continues to exist on the periphery.
I don't think America is ready to embrace soccer as more than something to follow when it rolls around, such as we think of the Olympics; on a year-to-year basis, soccer is still a long way from becoming a legitimate major sport, as far as I can see.
Anyone here think differently?
