They may care about animals, but they sure don't know anything about them

This is from the June 2002 issue of Citizen magazine:

If sharks attack humans out of revenge, as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals suggested last year, what makes a deer crash into a car?
State governments that allow hunting of course.
At least that's the story PETA is sticking to in threatening to sue the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife over an accident that somewhat serendipitously involved a pair of animals-first activists. The duo was driving a PETA-owned vehicle, in fact, when they broadsided a deer that darted out onto the New Jersey Trunpike.
The crash -- in which only the deer was seriously hurt -- would never have happened, a PETA lawyer later wrote, if the state didn't (a) allow and (b) actually encourage hunting. So enraged was the group about the accident that it "saw red -- and it wasn't just the blood of the animal fleeing hunters' guns" that the activists barreled into.
We can only guess the state responded with, well, a deer-in-the-headlights stare. After all, when the accident occurred, hunting season was still a few weeks off.

But can you be certain that the poor deer were not traumatized by past hunting season experiences? How do we know that the judgment of the deer wasn't comprimised by the shock of post-traumatic stress syndrome?
The deer had every right to be on the road.Quite possibly more, since they have been around longer than man and have been so badly oppressed over the many years of human tyranny.
I think PETA should put their vehicles away and ride bikes to and from their destinations.Think of the emissions they would no longer endanger the environment with, the waste of space with tires, the landfills full of parts, and the needless slaughter they have wrought on the poor defenseless deer population.
Better yet, they should get closer to nature by covering themselves with deer scent and commune with the native deer population.I have seen a show on TV where this method worked quite well.
We should get closer to nature and understand the motives of these forest creatures.Let's quit our jobs, sell our homes, and join the deer herds in their quest for equality in the world.

It seems like PETA finds new ways to outdo themselves every day.
