I know I haven't posted here in a while, but I had to bring this to everyone's attention. Someone seems to be "sharing" art and does not credit the artist for making it. Thief

If you recognize the art and the artist, let me know as soon as possible so I can have proof that he is stealing art and not giving credit for the artist. Please help, I thank you for your time.
 
I don't remember who did the Sailor Moon series on that page, but they're not his. Neither are either of the Pokemon pics.

At any rate, you're right. None of those pics are his.

In fairness, it may be that you are being a bit harsh. I don't know who this person is, but I do know that it is a very common practice for folks to post art without knowing who created it or where it even came from. This occurs all over the net, including here, on a regular basis. It isn't a matter of thievery, it's just that folks really don't know where a lot of pieces come from. Hell, I've had folks offer me tickle/gas pieces, as per our free membership offer only to inform them that the piece originated on our site. Most of the time, there is just no way to know. Someone finds a piece some place, which was posted by someone else, which was posted from somep lace else. I didn't see any evidence that he was claiming the pieces were his creations and in fact, a few of them were labelled as yours (although that might be an action he took after you posted your comments in his blog). Although I can understand why you might think he's laying claim to them, seeing as he's posting them to Deviant, which is primarily a place for actual artists to post their work and not a yahoo briefcase or something similiar. In any event, unless a person is claiming that your work is their own, I wouldn't get too upset. Just identify yourself as the artist (something they are most likely unaware) and either ask that they a) give you props or b) remove your work.

Which leads me to believe that he's using Deviant as a psuedo-yahoo group for tickle pics. The art styles are not the same. I don't think he's thieving, just not very bright for posting other people's art on a forum primarily for artists posting their own stuff.

I have already reported this guy and asked him numerous times to add credit to all the works he has. To have an art page that states "Recent Deviations" makes it seem that he is the one who made it. I just don't like that idea. I would rather him credit the real artist. Plus the art is being used without permission and is getting favorited by art lovers and they won't know who really did the art, thus leaving out the artist. I know there's alot of people that aren't the sharpest knifes in the drawer but it's just not right to do this sort of thing and if I could crack down on all of these thefts of art, I would. That's why I seem to be coming down so hard on this guy. Not to mention he had two of my works on his page without my permission or credit to me. If it's my work, I want to be known for it.

Tickledorange: Did you mean the first 5 by any chance cause the 5th one seems to resemble Falcon's work.

Ah, yes. Although I have yet to see any evidence that he is outright claiming the works are his, he is certainly taking liberties and allowing others to come to the erroneous conclusion that they are. About the only thing you can do is contact the website, which apparently you have already done. Legal persuit is possible, but expensive and probably not a realistic option, under the circumstances.

Just calm down and report it. The art may be from unknown artists to deviantart at large, but enough of the people in this community could vouch to deviantart what is going on here that it's assured they'd do something about it.

This isn't a case where the art cannot be identified nor the real artists reached, and the DA TOS is clear on matters like this. Theres no reason to expect anything less than a favorable result. The account will most likely be suspended, closed, banned, or removed, and the material will definitely be deleted.

Outside of that, its not realistic to expect anything else. Its the only thing DA can do, anyways. You'll just have to settle for the solice that you caught this and that one less of these accounts is out there.
 
I have reported numerous times. I've sent him messages stating to credit others works. I have already notified Kamikuzu on TT and here about his piece up there.

I thank everyone pitching in to help and giving their opinions. I appreciate it all.
 
You're also in a situation where he didn't ask permission, either. So even if he does credit the work before DA gets to this case, you still have that he didn't ask permission to repost. He cannot cancel out what he's done by simply giving credit at this point. Even the TOS and numerous community news updates on the matters of copyrights and posting are clear on this.

While giving credit and not asking permission to distribute is generally considered less of an offense (since you've at least done one half of what was necessary to make it completely legitimate), it is still not good form, is frowned upon, and action should/will be taken regardless. This is not true of just this situation, but any.

Well I didn't see it, cause I got in too late. But still, the fact that people will try to rip off other people's art and call it their own is sad. I admit that I can't draw to save my life and I sometimes envy those who can, but does that mean I'd steal their art? No! If you work hard on something and someone tries to take credit for it, you'd be mad, wouldn't you? Well, so would I!
 
I just want to thank everyone for helping out. This guy did not credit the artists and had plenty of time to do it. He is now banned from DA, thus deleting his stolen art. This is just a small victory, because we will more then likely see more people like this. Thanks again everyone.
 
I was a bit late, alas, but I don't tolerate art thieves. Nonetheless, I'm glad I could assist in some form or other.
