Hard to say where that started. It sounds like the old guy was giving him crap for something he said when he got on the train. Still its obvious who threw the first punch, I don't know why he and the camerawoman act like they can press charges.

It looked to me like the black guy started it, but I think the old guy might went a little bit too far. o__O I'm not sure if he can press charges or not.. I learned in business law that if you're acting in self defense, then you're not held liable. However, going overboard.... It's refreshing to see someone getting what they deserve for a change. Act like a thug, spew racist comments, and strike someone and then get your face smashed in. It's too bad that the old vet didn't finish off this ignorant piece of trash.

I don't feel the old man went overboard in any way. This is a complete stranger, behaving in a very hostile and threatening manner, approaching him and physically attacking him. He knows nothing else about his assailant's psychology, morals, sobriety; he has no knowledge as to whether the idiot is carrying a weapon or how far the other man is intending to take the violence. The vet's life is in danger, and he has the full right to completely disable this scum bag.

Also: the fat-ass yelling "say it again, pinky!" needs to shut the fuck up.

Seems pretty clear that the black man sees the old man as a racist, but what gave him that idea, we may never know. The old man does get up and attempts to walk away from the situation, seating himself near the front of the bus. Now he's not completely blameless, because he is jawing with the guy the entire time. But it is clear that the black man throws the first punch. Once that happened, the old man had a right to defend himself.
