The majority of content on social media platforms is from people who had no hand in creating the content being posted. For those of you who post content that wasnt created by yourself (including any shorter forms of the original content such as gifs, video stills, shortened clip edits) and who have no relation to the original creator, what is your reasoning behind this? Dont you think that if the original creator wanted it posted they would themselves? Same for content that is no longer available. Doesnt it make sense that if its no longer available and the creator didnt die then it is not available for a reason? Whats your mindsets?

Far as I can tell, they usually do it for one of two purposes;

  1. Engagement. People hate producers (we're all evil money-grubbing fakers dontchaknow) but they love content, so anyone who isn't a producer who posts content gets traffic, and views, and can therefore wrangle that into social media money in some fashion. A select few actually sell pirated copies of the videos they repost.
  2. "Sharing". They believe that making this content available to the "community" for free is a noble goal of some kind. A lot of them also think they're in the right because "they bought it and they're not making money off of it so they can do whatever they want with it", which is of course a load of bollocks.

Are we talking about tickling content here or just all content in general? For the tickling related stuff, a lot of producers make this high-quality content or content that people fall in love with. Then, one day, the creator disappears along with all the content, but the demand is still there. How often do we see people in the requests sections asking, "Do you know where this clip is from? Do you know where I can find this?" Etc... So people repost the stuff so it's still available or because they like it. That's one take, I guess. Before I have tons of producers jumping down my throat, not saying it's right. That's just a reason I believe.

For basically any other content on the internet, everything today is about likes and viewership and sharing and monetization. People are lazy and will typically always find the easiest and laziest ways to do something in the most beneficial ways to them. That means reposting (stealing) quality content under their own guise and taking viewership. I've seen a few times on YouTube, and original creator posts their stuff and gets a decent amount of views, but someone else will come along and repost it, and get just as many, if not more, views. Why put in the work yourself to create something original and interesting, when you can do a quarter of the work by stealing someone else's?

The internet today is a crazy place. There is more and more demand for new content, and there is so much content constantly being produced that it's easy for some people to take stuff and repost it as their own.
