Tickle Fetish got someone fired...

I would guess that both the girl and her boyfriend were very young, 18 or 19 if even that. And it doesn't surprise me that a hotel chain would have zero tolerance for failure to present the face of courtesy and professionalism to guests. I personally would never want to get anybody fired--in fact, some months back, when I reported an incident of seriously discourteous behavior by a custodian at a college campus some months ago, I made clear that I only wanted him asked to do differently in the future--but not everyone's like me, and employees need to know what it takes to keep a job, since they represent their employer and their employer's reputation to the customers. But indeed, it's not about getting fired for a fetish, but rather, getting fired for not taking job duties seriously enough.

Heard a fairly funny/interesting story today. My girlfriend is a manager for a certain hotel chain (Which will remain nameless) and apparently a receptionist on night duty at another hotel had her boyfriend behind the desk with her, when a guest showed up. He ducked under the desk to get out of sight, and then removed her shoes and socks and began tickling her feet, out of sight of the guest. She couldn't hold her laughter in, the guest complained the following morning to the manager and she has since been sacked (!). It has since been discovered that he has a full blown tickle fetish (And may very well be among us, of course) and I was wondering, do you think this is the first case of a tickle fetish getting someone fired?

It kind of reminded me of that classic General Hospital scene where exactly the same scenario occurs, but with less 'hilarious' consequences...

I haven't been here for awhile, so I've been trying to get caught up on some posts on here. No, something of this nature has probably happened many many times over. We never get to hear about it on the news or anything because it wouldn't make any ratings. A reporter would hear that and say "Someone got fired because they're tickled by someone who is turned on to tickling?" Most people wouldn't care.

How do I feel about it? I think it's terrible that the lady lost her job because the economy is bad, jobs are hard to find and even though he was just being ornery as hell, he crossed the line because there's a time and place for everything, he couldn't keep his urges in check and as a result of that, it cost his girlfriend her livelihood. But I also think that unless he was an employee there, she had no business having him behind the counter either. So, that part she brought on herself.

However, as far as I am concerned, that doesn't completely absolve the guy either. If he really has feelings for her and cares for her, he should go to the hotel, ask to speak to who is in charge, confess what he did and ask that they please consider giving the lady her job back. And if you're too embarassed about it to man up and do it in person, write a letter and mail it. Anyways, I think that would be an appropriate 'punishment' for the boyfriend. Small penalty to have to pay compared to what happened to his girlfriend.

Totally uncool and out of character.
