I had the thought that it'd be kinda neat to working tickling into poker. It seemed simple at first, but the deeper I get into it the more complicated it starts to look. I want to do more than the basic "Play poker and the loser gets tickled." Here's what I have so far...
You can use chips, monopoly money, or any other tokens that you like, but what you're betting is not money, but tickling. For example a white chip might represent one minute, or you could convert monopoly money at the rate of $10/minute, or whatever rate everyone agrees on. Note that a low rate of exchange might get pretty tough on the 'lees. 😉
In addition to the basic tokens, there are special tokens that represent "enhancements" such as bondage, a blindfold, or participation by more than one 'ler.
So for example 'lee #1 makes a bet of 10 minutes (that's 10 minutes being tickled) and 'ler #1 matches the 10 minutes, then raises by 5 minutes. 'lee #1 is feeling tough, so he matches the extra 5 AND says that 'ler #2 can join in tickling him.
Just as in regular poker, a player can always fold if he or she doesn't like the bet. The game ends when one player is out of tokens. Then the rest look at their winnings and decide what to do with him or her.
In theory, this sounds like a great combination of ice-breaker and negotiation tool. It could even work at a gathering. But I've started wondering things like....
Do players need to identify as 'ler, 'lee, or switch? And do the rules treat them differently?
Should there perhaps be a designated 'ler or 'lee for each hand (perhaps the dealer)? That would allow people to know whom they were betting to tickle or be tickled by.
Should the tokens be marked in some way, so everyone knows who the time applies to? In other words, if I were betting then my tokens would be marked "Redmage", and everyone who won one of those off me would then know that it meant X minutes tickling/being tickled by me.
I'd like to brainstorm ways to make this work that will be fun and exciting for all involved.
