TTD,
I've said all I intend to say about religion elsewhere in previous threads, and I'm not going to start another when Q, Omega, Strel & Co. seem to have the topic surrounded. What I will say is that even if your interpretation of the Bible indicates that Man is inherently evil because of original sin, the whole point of that doctrine is that we must constantly strive to overcome that tendency. It is not a carte-blanche excuse to misbehave in whatever manner you please because "it's all just the same." If you actually read the Bible, you would know that. Now, if you were a follower of a Calvinist sect like Presbyterianism that believes in Predetermination (God decided whether you were going to Heaven or Hell way back at the dawn of Creation and nothing you do can sway Him, with the possible exception of becoming a Calvinist) I could see where you might get that idea, but even then most genuine Calvinists still maintain the importance of a moral life regardless.
Secondly, I do recognise that evil exists and it is all around us, though not to the overwhelming extent that some would have us believe. (C.S. Lewis said that there are two great errors that one can make concerning the Devil: One is refusing to believe he exists, and the other is becoming too preoccupied with him and seeing his influence at every turn. Too many people make that second mistake and won't acknowledge it.) Evil is the result of human decisions: The decision to give in to cowardice, ignorance, selfishness, and weakness. As such, people who perform evil need to own up to it instead of blaming it upon "their evil nature" or "the devil's temptations." I fail to see how a demand that people be held accountable for their behavior and accept personal responsibility for their actions is "Political Correctness."
Political Correctness is the art of making excuses and denying responsibility. "I killed those people, but it wasn't my fault. I'm a victim of racist patriarchal society. I come from an impoverished home. My parents were abusive. I have Attention-Defecit Hyperactivity Disorder. I deserve compensation for the way my ancestors were treated. Republicans do illegal stuff too, so you shouldn't judge me until you've convicted them. Man is inherently evil and nothing I do can change that. It's not my fault." That sounds a lot more like your position. You don't appear to understand your own argument. In fact, given the mock-Social Darwinist nonsense you felt compelled to put in your original post about "The fitest (sic) may survive but the unfit may live" definitely leads me to deduce that you don't really believe what you wrote seriously, but rather said it because it sounded like a cool tough-guy bad-ass line from a 14 year-old's perspective. If that's so, I'm willing to chalk it up to the excesses of youth and be done with the topic.
I should point out at this juncture that I have no problem with TTD stating his personal preference for tickle torture, nor do I equate such a preference with evil. Since that only took up two sentences of his post, I was rebutting the other four sentences of pretentious adolescent twaddle about moral relativism, which was the part I quoted and specified. I personally don't give a fetid dingo's kidney whether he prefers playful or "intense" tickling, but I have no patience for intellectual laziness or nihilistic posing. It was this section, comprising at least 2/3 of TTD's statement, that I thought TicklingisLife was agreeing with, and if I'm mistaken then I am the first to apologise for charging him with sycophancy.
