Nothing specific. I just heard it was a popular thing up there, that's all.The Last Laugh said:In Canada?!? What are you talking about?

How about it, ladies? Any thoughts?

Helena said:I do know that I like to shave my underarms because I think it just looks attractive and clean. For me, it just falls under personal grooming. I like to wear attractive sleeveless tops in the summer, and all the men I have ever known like the clean look. Every ler I've ever known appreciates good grooming.
I have never been out of the United States, so I don't know about European tastes. I think if I didn't feel clean, I wouldn't be happy. But if I were part of a culture that enjoyed hairy arms, and they were considered beautiful, and I didn't know anything else.......who knows?

I like the way you put it: you make it sound like shaved is the obvious default, not the other way around -- sort of like most gentiles around the world are "into" not doing circumcisions. The Last Laugh said:I'm certainly not aware of women being into not shaving their armpits around here.
Actually the armpit hair helps evaporate the moisture by providing extra surface area. That's also why hairy armpits smell more, but only at first. If you shower every day (which is a good idea regardless, unless you're a forest dweller), you don't get to the point where the hair is optimal. Then again, if you shower every day, either way is hygienic enough.TicklishLurker said:You know, it's surprising how many people don't seem to realize it's just plain old good hygenine to shave your pits. Think about it, they're sweaty and moist - the perfect place for bacteria to flourish. (Heck, that's why I try to shave my vulva at least once a month as well. And I shave my pits every day.) People seem to mistake it for "men pressuring women to conform to their ideals." Bullhockey. In fact, men should shave their pits too. The son of one of mom's friends had to shave his entire upper body (I can't remember if it was because of an operation or because he was on swim team) and he noticed with his pits shaved, he used 50% less antipersperant because he just wasn't as sweaty and smelly without the hair as he was with.
