This was a topic that came up in the chatroom earlier today and I wanted to poll some interest and see if this is something we can get off the ground!
Some background:
For those of you who are not familiar with D&D, it is essentially a roleplaying game. It is typically played on a board using characters that have stats generated by rolling dice. Certain types of characters have specific strengths and weaknesses that are taken into account when generating stats. Discussions happen as normal, but any actions that you want to take you roll dice to see how successful your character is at that action. One person serves as the dungeon master (DM for short). This person controls any monsters and coordinates overall gameplay, but player actions are up to them. Nothing is too crazy. If you can imagine it, it can happen! The DM also balances monster strengths and ensures the game itself is overall balanced.
There have been some roleplay threads in the past. Typically those have been more ok, this is what I want to happen and then build something around that. The idea with doing something D&D style is to prevent someone from just coming in and saying ok I grab your feet and put them in stocks and lock you in. The character would have to actually roll his/her skill against the other player/monster/whatever it is. That being said, consent could be given or something of the sort.
I have no specific gameplay aspects or rules at this point, just an idea. So, let me know if this is something you are interested in. If so, here are some preliminary questions and thoughts I have:
1. Do you want to actually play somewhat of a traditional D&D game where you go around and explore and fight creatures and monsters? Or are you more interested in just a tickle fight/play with other players?
2. What kinds of creatures do you want involved? Both as players and monsters etc.
3. There could be a means for incorporating players that come in after the initial game has begun.
4. Are you willing to commit to a specific date/time? It may take a while to develop a game if there are multiple people, all of whom are responding to a thread at a different time.
5. The game board would likely be developed and maintained by the DM who would upload a file to let everyone know where everything is.
That's all I have for now. I you have preliminary interest, feel free to reply or message.

This might be what it takes to get me on board!
