Hi All! Have any of you ever wondered about the lees & lers of history?

Like, who was the very first lee & ler combination?

Or

What famous people in history liked tickling/being tickled?

Well, there's no way that the 18th century French aristocracy didn't have some play going. There's no way they had four poster beds and undergarments with that level of complexity without they were an entire nation of fetishists. 😉

Yeah, I can imagine France is most likely where the tickling fetish got started [and a lot of the other fetishes to, I would guess].

I read a book on the Tudors wherein when Queen Elizabeth I was a little girl, she would get tickled every day by her stepfather and sometimes her stepmother too. She loved being tickled! They would hold her down on her bed and tickle tickle torture her.

I wouldn't have thought that Queen Elizabeth would have liked to been tickled [no disrespect to the English or to Queen Elizabeth, but I've alway thought of her as kind of the up-tight type]

Catherine the Great is supposed to have had a fetish for having her feet tickled. In fact, I read that she had official court foot ticklers to do this for her. This would have been a great job if she was cute and had sexy feet, but it would have been disgusting if she were a pig with ugly feet...you know, bunions, ingrown toenails, stubby toes with flat feet, bad foot odor, etc.

I'm with you [I looked up some Catherine the Great pics] and while she may have been prettier in her younger years, I only found pics of her as an old lady.

That sounds like a great job tho, but I would prefer someone like Princess Diana, may she rest in peace

It was a biographical book written about them so I would think she did research into this. That would be an odd thing to put in if it weren't true. Elizabeth was a bit up-tight but who knows what went on behind closed doors?

From what I've heard of Catherine the Great, tickling is at the vanilla end of the shit she got up to. 😉 The Inquisition comes up in tickling fantasy occasionally, although from the implements and the archives, I think they were more about the pain.

The story about the young Princess Elizabeth can be found in Volume 3 of the works of the historian Henry Thomas Buckle, which can be accessed on Google Books. From page 531: "Elizabeth, before she was queen, slept with Katherine Ashley....[who] assisted the admiral [Thomas Seymour, who had married Elizabeth's stepmother Catherine Parr] in tickling Elizabeth; 'thei tytled my lady Elizabeth in the bed' (see Mrs. Ashley's confessions in Haynes's State Papers, p. 99)." I once located the Haynes book in a large academic library and can confirm that K. Ashley said what Buckle said she said.

I have never found a source for Catherine the Great and tickling in another place than tickling or fetish websites. Therefore, I doubt that one! 🙂

Seriously....why bother with tickling if you can rip out toenails??

NO ONE expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise, well, surprise and fear, and nice red uniforms and oh yes ... this feather, over here. 😉

Gotta love the Pythons. 😀

I read something somewhere about tickling being used as a punishment for adultery in ancient China. There was also a story about a man in England in the 18th century (or thereabouts) who tied up his annoying wife and tickled her feet mercilessly and at length. The tickling was so gruelling and unforgiving she went insane. I'll try and find the references for that.

Edit - it was wikipedia so probably 100% reliable. 😉

I can see tickling being used as a punishment in China, because laughter is [or I have read it is] against their religion.

As we all know, it hard to not laugh when being tickled.

That is exactly what I read and this was in another biographical book about Henry's children. I believe she may have referenced the book you are quoting.

This is so kewl...Cyn has traced her roots back to Ann Boleyn. What was the name of the book? There are a lot out there, but would like to read this one, lol.

Well, like I said, It was just something that I read somewhere [don't remember where], but I thought it sounded a little off.

I knew I should have researched it when I read it, but I forgot about it till I was reading Suikoden's post.

I've read that tickling was used as torture in ancient China on high ranking prisoners because it wouldn't leave marks. But I don't know how accurate that is. There are more reliable methods that work on everybody and don't leave any marks either.

I have heard [I think it was in Africa, but I don't know for sure] when a warrior would catch a female of the tribe they were fighting against, they would tickle torture her to get info out of her about the other tribe.

I'm not sure if this is right or not, just something I heard.

I would say that is bullshit. 🙂
