Time Travel

Is this just science fiction or it is already possible or will be?

Some movies and telivision shows have been spawned from this concept, such as "Sliders" (which is more of a dimensional thing), and "7 Days".

This would be a good workout for you scientifically endowed to explain or talk about it. Is time travel wrong? Whats your opinion?

According to the current knowledge of physics, it's not possible to revert the time vector. I won't rule out that we'll find a way to do it in future, maybe with a better understanding of quantum physics.

However, there are several big problems to overcome. For one, a position in this universe is defined with three space and one time coordinates. As the Earth spins and revolves around the sun (which in turn revolves around the galaxy center, and the galaxies are moving as well), we'll also have to find a way to transport matter to the right coordinates, i.e. some kind of teleportation.

Another problem is the time paradoxon: What if you travel back in time and change history? Can you exclude the possibility that you accidentally prevent your ancestors from meeting each other, and therefore annihilate your own existence? And if so, how can you travel back in time if you've never existed?

Maybe time travel needs some transmitter/receiver device which hasn't been invented yet, and you can only travel back as far as its invention? That would explain why we haven't yet got any visitors from the future. Maybe it's easier to travel through the dimensions, to a parallel universe, who knows? 🙄

I always rather liked Robert Heinlein's scifi story "All You Zombies" in which a human hermaphrodite, via time travel, becomes both its own parents, and drops itself off in the past at the orphanage where it grew up. 😛

Not possible, especially forward in time.
All talk of time travel into the past is nothing more than quirky mathematical solutions to incomprehensible and unproven theorizing by the 'publish or perish' crowd.

If time travel were possible id fix alot of stuff on my own life..thats actualy my ultimate dream..to be able to travel back in time.

There was some guy who joined a message board somewhere and claimed that he had come from the future. He posted the full schematics of his time machine and answered everyone's questions about the future. Not that I believe it, but give me the rest of the day and I'll try and find the link.
