I don't think I would worry too much about my clips being ripped off in that way, personally. I haven't been in business in years, but when I was, someone once posted all of my clips online for free one summer - and it was my biggest sales period in my entire career. People posting your stuff is annoying but in my experience it doesn't eat into your bottom line much. If anything, it raises awareness of you and balances out that way.
People who are looking for a clip to buy are going to shop for the one that scratches their specific itch.
And people who aren't looking to pay - take what they can get, and they weren't going to buy anyway. You don't really lose a customer just because someone downloads your clip for free.
You didn't even know this blog existed, and you still wouldn't know where to find it unless you did some research - we have it filtered here so nobody can link to it or name it.
...
As an example, look at how easy it is to download free TV shows and movies - but they still make money, because most people would rather just take the easier route and pay for their stuff.
In other words, if your clips aren't available online for free on a pirate site, they're going to just take something else for free, not come and buy your clip. Because they aren't a potential customer - most likely they can't afford those kinds of extraneous expenses so they download what's around and hope to get lucky.
And if they are going to buy, then they're not trolling for free stuff - they're looking for EXACTLY what they're into, credit card in hand.
