TIB I have to ask a question. Out of all the companies that sell tickling videos, yours is the only one that ever "retires" videos, that I've noticed. Why? Other companies still have vids for sale that are five or six years old. Would it be so difficult to stash a master copy somewhere safe and then bring it out if and when it was asked for?

Some of that tapes you've done in the past have been truly brilliant.

Without Consent, Tickler In Black, Beauty Must Laugh, Happy Hour and Amanda's Challenge to name but a few. All of these tapes were excellent and well worth a place in anyone's collection. Why retire them? I know you've released some of them of CD-ROM, but CD-ROM is crap compared to video quality.

Mandatory retirement

I agree that videotapes shouldn't face mandatory retirement if people want to buy them....

For example, I'd buy "Without Consent" right now if it were available....

For that matter, since the realtickling.com folks don't want to sell it to me, does anyone *else* have a copy of "Without Consent" they'd like to sell me?

hi. we wrote a response to why we retire videos some months ago but i cant find the post so here's a short recap of it.

we do not want to become a mega company with 100 titles. yes i know, sounds insane but we are a 2 person operation and wish not to hire on or go into partnership with anyone. thus we've reached (reached beyond really) the point where we can no longer physically and emotionally do any more business, so we take the older videos that sell 1 or 2 copies per month, and retire them. you may not agree with this but its how we want to run our little business. we are not seeking to expand, expand, expand. were not greedy. we feel life needs to be lived, not spent trying to earn more and more money. we just need enought to live on. 🙂

and latenight. did ya know Without Consent is still available on CD-ROM. 🙂 dont turn your noses up at the CD-ROMs, they aren't that bad to watch. and their only $25

Ummmmm, as always Jason, we have to accept your decision because it's your company; but there is one thing I don't understand. I can totally empathise with your reasons for not wanting to hire, or take on more staff than needed at minimum, because I can appreciate the paperwork and complications that must entail. However.................

What is it about storing master copies in the garage (or wherever) and digging them out whenever someone wants to buy an old title, that means you have to take on more than just you and Kathy? Also, when you consider it, MTP is a company that hold dozens of old films in it's stock and that's only a ONE man operation.To the best of my knowledge JEff has never been in partnership or had any other employees, although he did do half a dozen videos in conjunction with that guy from FFP.

I totally respect your decision to stay as a small time outfit, because of all thecomplications, but how does not retiring tapes and keeping them in stock stop you doing that?😕

Why are you no longer shipping videos outside the US, and is this likely to change?

The original message about the retirements doesn't affect me too much as I already own TM, and didn't really want MTL that much, but there are some others I'd like, but I can't get them now. 🙁

TIB has already answered this question LEB, which is possibly why it wasn't answered on the other thread. He said it was because of trouble TC were having with customs in other countries and the language barrier causing incorrect addresses to be sent to them. This resulted in the packages being returned and TC having to fork out yet more postage to send them again.
