TMF Merchandise?

This thought just occured to me the other day: If the TMF sold merchandise (shirts, hats, coffee mugs, et. al) would you be interested in purchasing them? Obviously one would have to be pretty open about thier interest in tickling to want to own something like this, but at the same time it might be one of the most subtle and effective ways to introduce new people to it. The site does boast a membership of over one-hundred thousand (that's probably low balling it) so the idea could be profitable. Just a thought. If the owners of the site were to go with this idea and start making money though, I expect a thank you card and a fruit basket 🙂

It's an interesting idea. the Letters "TMF" mean very little to anyone but us, if anything at all. if done right, a sweater, hoodie, or shirt that said "TMF" on it would simply be another school or some kind of spirit-showing for an organization. Almost no-one ever asks about them.

At first I was opposed to the idea since I don't particularly feel the need to wave my fetishism in other people's faces. However, as Viper points out there, TMF could mean absolutely anything; and imagine how cool it'd be if some celebrity showed up on MTV or some telly programme wearing a TMF cap or sweater?

On the other side of the coin, how would you feel if some nutjob got caught on CCTV robbing a petrol station whilst wearing a TMF hoodie?

That's a risk that all clothing manufacturers have to take when making shirts and such. I would have to say, the chances of TMFWear being on a celebrity on TV are better than some moron robbing a bank.

I was thinking about this myself today, to the point where I'm going to head out this weekend to the local T-shirt and novelty shops to see what options are available. I was thinking of starting out small: pins at first with two varying logos (maybe the TMF emblem and a feather emblem--the latter hasn't been designed yet, which might be a problem) since I've seen swinger groups provide their members with such pins for ID and souvenir purposes.

I figure if I can get little prototype pins made up--or at least one sheet of the emblem--maybe we can venture out later into necklaces, rings, bracelets, and if they turn out to be successful, maybe we can try T-shirts and hoodies.

All in all, it's still up to MTP Jeff and any other co-owners if they'd want this at all.

On top of that, we'd still have to design a secondary logo with a feather emblem; that way we'd have 2: one with words and one with picture.

www.cafepress.com has, at the start, a limited selection of stuff you can put images on. stuff like buttons, clocks, thongs (a TMF thong would look great on so many of the ladies here!!), hoodies, etc. the account can be set up so that the TMF gets the profits in order to keep the site running, or for TMF-spnsored gatherings.

Sod the ladies, I would look so tasty in a TMF thong. In terms of frontal coverage I'm not sure if the wrapping would fit the package though :S Might be like wrapping a jellybean in a tent.

Im sure alot of people would wear the merchandise during NEST and things like that! If it looks cool I'd buy it regardless.

One of the largest, most popular investment forums/communities on the Internet is named "The Motley Fool." They use the same abbreviation as we do, and I'd wager that they have a lot more members. Some sort of symbol or logo might work better than "TMF" on apparel, unless you really happen to like talking about stocks (the OTHER kind) with random folks on the street. 😛

glad to see that this thread has produced so many responses. The Montly Fool point is an ineteresting note. I wonder though, given that they probably have thier own specific lettering style and colors would anyone really make the connection. Then again if I walked around town with two big green arches on my shirt some people might think that I was a health nut that loved McDonalds in spite of myself.
