You make it sounds like his day-job is a bad thing. Is he finally being brought to justice for his horrifying act of pointing out pedophiles?
Personally, I don't see the irony here. How is cheating comparable to pedophilia? (Well, unless he was cheating with someone under the age of consent, but I don't think that's the case.)
I think the irony here is that he used hidden camera's to "bust" people, and hidden camera's were used to "bust" him.

Aaah, okay. If that's how it's intended, then I can see that. I thought people were saying that it's ironic that a man who catches pedophiles for a living cheated on his wife. I just didn't see the irony there.
Also, and i could be wrong here, but I believe the show caused several spinnoff shows under the same sort of concept to be created, but the shows were things like, To catch a car thief, and one i believe was "to catch a cheater". If i'm right about this, then I would deffinitly say that there is some irony there.
