so guys and gals is the life of a tickle fetish clip producer the mad whirlwind of pure ecstasy i imagine it to be or is it actually hard work?
because surly if your a fellow tickle lover its the best thing ever but in the same breath youve gotta sell clips so how much of it is work and how much is pleasure???

I love it! I love being the -lee and -ler! I love shooting and editing as well! I promised myself the day it actually became 'work' I would stop. But at the same time, we're prepared and professional. We make sure the rope is laid out and have a list of scenerios ready before the model even shows up. Then when she shows up, we do paperwork and run through the ideas to make sure everyone is on the same page. I really don't think the clips would turn out well if I wasn't enjoying it, and I make sure the girls that I tickle or tickle me enjoy it as well. If they don't, then no tickle shoot... that simple 🙂
I think its safe to say, the only 'real work' that we do is keeping up with the 2257 laws and the paperwork involved there.

What kinds of paper work is involved with this sorta thing? And what are the 2257's?

Oh, it has moments. But depending on where you are, the search for models can make you insane.

Or maybe I just had crappy luck.

But I had a ton of call-offs, no-shows, a model who had a murder in her neighborhood an hour before I got there (I know it was true, the police were still all over and had the tape up) one girl who had pneumonia, and thought it was still a good idea, and her friend who was "yes" "no" "yes" "no". Had one that sweated so excessively I couldn't use her.

It would be heaven if I could get a steady stream of reliable, ticklish models who don't have fevers. I love the shooting. I've never had to edit, I always sold off the footage before. But I'm looking forward to playing with that.

You know what's even better than actually tickling a cute ticklish model? When the sale is made, and you know someone WANTS what you made. That's one of the things that keeps me making leather. Something I created is desirable enough that someone will give up their money to have it, and that they will appreciate what you have done.

That is the most AWESOME feeling.

What's the usual protocol for finding models? I would imagine word of mouth, right?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Sorry about that, heheheh! Seriously, I can only speak from my personal experience, but frankly, doing this is most definitely not the dream come true people seem to think it is. It might be different for some others (for instance, pandora101 seems to enjoy most aspects of the job, which is great), but for me it's often a frustrating, stressful, sometimes even tedious experience that's much more like hard work than fun. And I say this from a tickling fan's point of view.

Now, I'm sure doing private sessions/shoots must be a lot of fun. But when you make it into a business, a lot of the fun goes out the window. I don't see it as opportunity to "get off on tickling some cute chicks". You must remain professional and respectful at all times, as it's a business relationship, first and foremost. At least it should be. Then you have to remember that you need to make a video that other people will find appealing. That means operating a camcorder in an interesting way, having a decent lighting setup (which is quite a challenge, believe me), direct the models to some extent, think of what they should do next, etc. In my case, I also worry what they're thinking about, how they're feeling, wondering if they're getting tired or bored, think I'm asking too much of them, etc. Maybe they're unhappy or uncomfortable for some reason, who knows? That can add a lot of stress. Frankly, my brain is too busy dealing with various technical and psychological issues to simply enjoy what's going on.

I won't even go into the frustrations of dealing with unreliable people, or candidates who turn out not to be ticklish enough. Or the very tedious process of editing the video (at least I find it tedious), writing descriptions, creating picture and clip samples... Then there's the fact that you have to fight to get noticed among the (literally) hundreds of other producers. The market has evolved very quickly over the last two years or so, and suffice to say that it's bursting-at-the-seams saturated. I also won't go into all the research, legal issues, equipment shopping and website/software stuff, etc. that you have to deal with. It's hard, time-consuming, expensive work.

In the end, the main satisfaction I get from doing this (and I have to agree with Gadilici on this point) is when I get positive feedback from people who enjoy my work. That's very nice indeed. Otherwise I can't say that the process, or even the shoots themselves, are that much fun. Ok, so some shoots are more fun than others. It's not always as bad as I may have made it sound like. But also not as awesome as some people think. It would be quite different if I only did it for myself, but since the videos are meant for sale it's an entirely different ball game. You lose a lot of freedom that way, and, well, that sucks.

Last Laugh, your post made me believe in the business again! 🙂

Last Laugh, your post made me believe in the business again! 🙂

Are you being sarcastic? I can't really tell. I mean, I did paint a rather bleak (yet realistic) picture of what running a tickling video business is like. Of course, I'm sure things are significantly more fun for some other producers, but I could only speak from personal experience. The sad truth is that it didn't take long after I started working on The Last Laugh before I realized that it wasn't nearly as easy or wonderful as I first thought. A mistake I assume many people make.

Sorry for being so negative, but it really gets to me when someone thinks that we producers are the luckiest people in the world. Apparently, some people even think we have harems of gorgeous, excruciatingly ticklish young women we can have fun with whenever we wish. I'm afraid that's really not the case. In fact, aside from my shoots I don't have any opportunities for tickling at all (and even during the shoots I don't even do much tickling). I have no one to have tickling fun with. It seems to me that the lucky ones are those who actually have one or more regular tickling partners, even if they don't make commercial videos. Or rather, especially if they don't make them, since they have the freedom to do whatever they want without worrying about camera shots, lighting, or doing things in a way that is likely to appeal to customers.

No, I wasn't sarcastic at all (I probably shouldn't post while being in a hurry 🙂 ).

A lot of people believe that producers (and also photographers) are in that business to get their hands and eyes on pretty women to drool over them, and that is just not the case!

That belief makes it hard for producers to find models though! Your post nicely showed the reality of this kind of business.

Oh, I see. I figured you weren't being sarcastic, but I wasn't sure, considering how negatively I presented the situation. Some people have a very unrealistic view of what it's like to work with models and produce videos. It's probably part of the reason why so many new tickling stores are created all the time. I just wanted to shed some light on how things really are. Like I said before, I'm sure other producers have a more positive experience, but even then it doesn't change the fact that it's basically hard work and that models aren't just tickle sex toys or tools for making videos. If a producer feels otherwise, he really has no business working with models.

Very well said, I totally agree.

I was going to post in this thread, then I read TLL's post, and he summarily spelled out everything I was thinking.

Let's see if I can break this down.

  • Posting/printing ads that potential new models will respond to
  • Sifting through spam responses to the online ads
  • Making phone calls or email correspondence to the "human" responses
  • Setting up an interview with the new model and going to lunch/meeting with them
  • Neogtiating shoot content and rates for compensating the model
  • Organizing a shoot time that matches both her schedule and mine (I do work a vanilla job too, you know)
  • Preparing all the bondage equipment/furniture/lighting/recording equipment

Now the model just has to show up. No-shows and call-outs are common.

Assuming the model actually gets here, we can fill out all the proper paperwork (yes, even tickling fetish sites have all kinds of legality issues to handle) and start the shoot. Now we have to deal with the model being camera shy, not being half as ticklish as she claims to be, not being comfortable with things that she said she'd be fine with (blindfolds, certain types of bondage, the tickling itself...). If all those things work out allright, we can go to print.

  • Pay the model
  • Capture the footage to the PC and editing equipment
  • Begin the editing process for the video itself
  • Create preview pictures and abbreviated preview clips along the way
  • All while making sure the audio and video feeds are synched properly
  • Re-watch the whole video to check consistency and video quality
  • Render it to a file that can be uploaded
  • Upload the file to the store we use for sales, which can take hours depending on upload bandwidth and filesize
  • Organize our financial records to accomodate for the new products and it's associated sales
  • Release the preview pics/clips to the TMF and other boards
  • Handle any download errors or clip problems that customers provide feedback about

All this for a couple hours with a hot guy or girl who gets to be your tickle-toy for a fraction of that time, accomodating for bondage setup, breaks, and the recording process. And frankly, you're running a business, so as much as you may enjoy torturing the poor victim, you need to remain professional at all times.

ViperGTS,

I have to congratulate you on describing the process in such accurate detail. It's exactly how it is for me. It's an unbelievable amount of work and potential frustration for a very short period of fun. That is, if one manages to have fun under all the constraints one has to work under when shooting a commercial video with women who usually aren't professional fetish models (and even then, you still need to act professionally at all times). Sorry to burst some people's bubble, but if all you want is to have a good sexy tickling time, this is not a business for you. You're much better off doing it in a more private context with a ticklee you're comfortable with (and vice versa), doing without all the tedious, time-consuming technical stuff.

Oh, I'd like to add an extra item to the second list, right after "Release the preview pics/clips to the TMF and other boards":

-After all that hard work, prepare for the disappointment of seeing your post and free preview pushed off the video forum's first page in less than a day.

That's because there are so many producers nowadays, some of them highly prolific and popular, that the thread rotation is extremely fast. All that hard labor only to get very little exposure and to see one's work missed or overlooked by most people and quickly forgotten. Sometimes you get lucky and you get a fair number of replies, adding extra life to your post. But it's not always the case. Sometimes the clips you think are among your very best attract very little attention, leaving you mystified and a bit discouraged. And even if you do get a lot of hits and replies, as well as positive comments, that doesn't necessarily translate into good sales. After all, people are under no obligation to buy anything even if they enjoy your free previews. It's perfectly normal, but it can be disheartening.

different light on situation

the dialogue here puts things in perspective of how much work it is to pull this type of business off Ijust hope you keep doing this awhile longer last laugh to me your videos are the best on the market and your hard work while very trying brings alot of enjoyment to many especially me. its so good that maybe people get the idea that you are getting enjoyment out of it also.I just hope that you have enough juice to continue it you certainly are a master at your craft and you capture what I look for in a tickling video you pull this off for someone like me and I dont even know what the girls are saying. Another thing is that only a true lover of tickling could pull these off so maybe people think you get alot out of it but its good that people are made aware of how much work it is

Viper and TLL definitely hit it. Viper's breakdown was awesome.

Hat's off to those lucky and tenacious enough to stay with it. God knows, I haven't had much of either.

But here's to better luck in the Hampton Roads metro next year....
