Old episodes? How old? I'm a fan of Dr. D's 1970's shows. "Party" records galore, home brew productions (pre-home-studio!), much edgier than later on!
That guy you once knew has to be the epitome of a radio geek (and being something of a radio geek myself, that's not a diss!). No amenities but a big antenna and a sensitive radio? Heck, toss in a fridge full of beer and I'm home! 🙂 What was he like in other ways?
It got one in the late 1970's in the form of "punk". Rock was getting too pretentious for its own good. The punks came along and said, "No, no, here's how it's done: Four chords or less, driving beat, move hips!"
But yeah, rock's getting old and full of itself. Maybe a laxative would help!*
(*-Please do not mistake this for a desire for nostalgia. There was just as much crap coming out of the mainstream back in the day as there is now).
