I love it when I see a woman wearing any kind of open-toed shoe or sandal , & I notice that her toenails are polished while her fingernails are not. I see this quite often & it makes me wonder , she took the time to doll up her feet rather than her hands ........ does that say something to how she feels about feet ; or , being that I have a huge foot-fetish , am I reading too much into this little phenomenon? Is she trying to lure a foot-guy? Why would a woman have her toes painted & neglect her fingernails?

Any insight by the ladies on this forum would be greatly appreciated.

Well, being that I work in the medical field, I can get away with wearing polish on my toes but not my fingers. My toes are hidden. Fingernail polish, according to OSHA, has the potential to chip off and contaminate areas that would put a patient at risk for infection. Then, the fact that I'm washing my hands constantly already puts my nails at risk for being softer and the polish doesn't stay as it should. I know that's not everyone's reasons....but it's one and mine.

Hugs,
Sadira

Well I also work in the medical field and like many others I sneak and wear polish... sorry sadira, don't tell! 🙂

But another reason that is a biggie is that the nails on your hands are softer than those on the feet. They tend to bend and chip a lot faster and in general take more abuse (opening of pop cans etc...) When I paint my toenails I can get a good two weeks out of that polish job but on my fingernails I"m lucky if I make it past lunch.

Hope this helps?!

Thanks , Sadira. I'm hoping to get to the bottom of this "mystery". Your reason was something I hadn't thought of.

By the way , I can't wait to meet you at MTP#7 this weekend. I'll get to see your toenail polish in person!

Yep , that helps , 'kitten ... & thanks. But , in regards to the two-week lifespan of polish on your toes : are you factoring in heavy amounts of ~toe-sucking~ into that equation?

Can't wait to meet you this weekend ......

I LOVE to polish my toes, but I hate to deal with my fingers. I don't have a foot fetish, not even very fond of my toes, but there's something about looking down and seeing funky colors shine up at me that makes me smile. I use very bright colors on my toes that I wouldn't be able to use on my fingers. Things like purples, blues, deep reds, sparkles... It just makes me feel good and not everyone gets to see it.

I never neglect either....

I work in a hospital too but I don't have any real physical contact with the patient, unless it's the signing of paperwork, or some will shake my hands or hug me so I don't really have to worry about the contamination issue. On my nails, I wear what's called an "overlay" which is my own nails covered with a layer of acrylic~the result is natural colored nails, with white tips, so while it LOOKS like I don't do anything to them, it's not true.

I get to wear open toed sandals/high heels so I'm obsessed with keeping my toenails painted (fire engine red, always.)
XOXO

Toe nail polish lasts much longer than fingernails, I too can barely survive a day after a manicure/pedicure without seeing at least one chipped fingernail (today it's my right little finger that isn't perfectly blood red), my toes on the other hand...if you can handle the white ridge that begins to form at the bottom where the nail is growing out...I have all the time in the world before I need to have them re-painted.

If time is really short, I might just remove my chipped fingernail polish, leaving my fingers bare and my toes painted in order to look like I've just had a pedicure...

Shameless, I know.

p.s. much like luvn2laf, if I am going to be rowdy, it's on my toes...my toes are most likely to try a deep sapphire blue on for size, or a 14k gold. In fact, on my personal website www.stephanielocke.com I often have photos of my feet taken when they're a new shade...in one set, I'm wearing this amazing pink that actually manifests as silver, purple, blue, gold, silver and pink all at the same time. The pictures capture the shade somewhat and is so gorgeous, I have this goal now of photographing my feet everytime I have a new color.

I have three reasons for keeping my toes polished and my hands not polished. One is the reason Kitten first stated and several have echoed...my fingernails, though fairly long, are soft and brittle and break easily, and a polish job on them never lasts more than a day or two without getting chipped and looking icky. I will polish them on very special occassions, but those are fairly rare. My toes, on the other hand, can maintain a polish job for a good week or two, as expressed above, and they never break. So it's far more worth the effort to polish my toe nails.

Secondly, I have a bit of a foot fetish myself, and I like my feet to be as attractive as they can be. I wear sandals a lot, and I hate looking down and seeing bare naked toes. I want color and vibrance and something that screams "Look at me! I'm cute and pudgy and I demand to be noticed!" 😀

Third, I am living with an engaged to fellow TMFer Lazarus, who is a RAGING foot fetishist. I like to keep him happy and give him something to smile about and appreciate!

Mimi 🙂

Well I guess I'm just weird then..lol. For most of my life, I didnt like color. Guess when the first time I had color on my toes was? 4 months ago!!! I dunno why..was just always shy about putting color on them. Loved to put clear, just not color. Now, my toes are painted black. That (as of now) is the only acceptable color on my toes.

As for my fingers, I've TRIED wearing color on them, but I just dont like it. My fingers go through a daily workout of playing my instruments anyway, so I dont have time to polish my nails anymore. But all o my fellow string players get jealous that my hands and fingers are so nice. We're supposed to keep our nails short so the nails dont interfere w/ touching the strings, but I'm not traditonal. :devil2: They're short just enough for me to play, and long enough to be beautiful. Just.....paintless. :cool2:

Bare fingernails can be very sexy. When I was about to film with Julian on "The Inescapable Tickleboard Vol. 1" I fought long and hard with myself over color. Dreamt of french tips in sheer or pink and then, when the time came, really had to fight myself not to leave them absolutely clear. I think it's really sexy too, my camera people convinced me to go red as that's what the camera would pick up most.

Black polish on my toenails is something I also contemplate...but so far, I just haven't had the nerve. When I do...I think I'm going to want a tiny ridge of "diamonds" across the top of my big toes.

p.s. Mimi, what ARE some of Lazarus' favorite colors on your toes???

God I wish nail polish was never invented. One of the biggest turn offs there is. -_-;

I wouldn't call that weird. I didn't start putting color on my toes until I was in my early 20s. I was away at a church gathering and the minister's wife was offering to paint toenails. It was the first time I even thought about it and ever since then, I've enjoyed doing it myself. As for your color choice of black - I enjoy black and charcoal gray myself!

His absolute favorite color for toes is purple, but being an irish lass with porcelain skin and slight reddish hues, purple does NOT suit me or look good with my flesh tones. So to please him and myself I tend to wear a dark rich burgundy color. He thoroughly enjoys that shade.

Other colors he likes that I've experimented with are different shades of red, metallic dark blue, and a bright shimmery emerald green. Only bright vibrant colors look good on my toes, though. With my pale skin, pale colors only make them look rather dull and sickly. Not a good image...lol

For me I love the looks of polish on my toenails. But with constant typing and hauling boxes at work, then dishes and stuff at home I can never keep polish on my fingers. I agree with all the other women on here, it definitely lasts longer and it looks and makes me feel sexy. For me its trying to draw attention to my feet almost. That would go for the toe rings and ankle bracelets also. I feel my feet are one of my best features so I love to show them off. What better way!

Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, but I LOVE it when a woman has polished her toenails. I especially like it when she has painted them a color in stark contrast to her skin tone. :xpulcy:

But I am not a big fan of the French pedicure. Go figure! :upsidedow

Oh I LOVE the idea of the diamonds! I'm a little too ethnic-looking to pull off the black toenail polish but I think it'd be cute with red too~maybe I'll try that on Thursday (my next salon appt.)

I'm a body piercing freak too~I had this one nail gal that used to drill a hole in my pinky nails and inset a tiny gold ring~way too cute, I'm sure some guys hated it but I do that kind of stuff just for me...
XOXO

I agree with Sultrybrunette on this one. I also think my feet are my best feature; which would explain why I still have on the ankle bracelet and toe ring I bought in Hawaii when I and one of my best friends went there for the Pro Bowl. I love those puka shell anklets!

I give my fingernails a polish every once in a while but, invariably, some polish on one of the nails starts to peel off and I can't help myself! I end up peeling off most of the darn polish on as many fingernails as I can! I know, I am very odd. I have always picked at my fingernails ever since I was little. It would drive my mom up the wall! I have been very proud of myself that I haven't picked all of my nails to oblivion lately (mostly in prep for MTP :evilha: ) My theory on why I would pick my nails is that I always have to keep my fingers busy. Or, if not my fingers, I tend to have "happy feet" and tap them around all the time, keeping them moving. All right, all right!! I am completely, and utterly weird. I admit it.

Anways... where was I? God, how I do ramble on! Oh, yeah. I have this great OPI color that I love and looks good on my toes. It's Cajun Shrimp. My olive-toned skin seems to like that color on my toes and fingers (My fingers when I was in my acrylic nails stage and I Couldn't take the polish off without taking off the dang nail!). I will occasionally experiment with different colors, but I will usually come back to Cajun Shrimp.

Oddly, I have never been much of a toe polish person. It wasn't until I ventured into our fine world and was Told that I have nice feet that I noticed that they actually Were cute. Chalk that up to Mr. SmileyTkls and his appreciation of my little digits, be they polished or no! :redheart:  :lovestory

Omg!

OMG~did you get a permanent one from that cute Australian guy at ToeJam? (Love those blue eyes and the way he says "you have such pretty feet!" before he fits you for yoru permanent one) Mine's 14k gold and I haven't taken it off since my last trip back there...6 years ago~half the family lives in Pearl City...
Love the puka shell anklets too! :smilelove

Dearest Mistress~I also loved your idea of photog'ing every new color although I've not deviated from my red in years! Maybe I'll do the diamonds w/red before my next photo shoot... Promise to post yours too?

Pretty Toes

:feets: Hi TKLMAN. I work in an office, but I always wear open-toed sandals because I love to take care of my feet and slip them out of my shoes whenever possible at work. Consequently, I love having my toes look their very best! Since it was my birthday, I had my toes pampered today and they look and feel wonderful. Since I am a foot-gal, I enjoy having my tootsies look their best more so than my hands necessarily. I hope I answered your question TKLMAN and thank you again for my birthday PM today. You are a sweety! :smilelove

I'd like to ask all these pretty ladies a few questions if I could.

btw...I've noticed now that the weather is better that a very high percent of women show their feet some how every day and most have toe nail polish of some sort. Of course, given my fetish views I notice such things somewhat more than average. I love warm weather 🙂

For me toe nail polish attracts attention but add a toe ring and ankle braclet and how can anyone not notice. Of the three I find the ankle braclet the sexiest of all.

Anyway here are my questions:

1. Given the high percent of toe nail polish I see my theory is that, since most ladies don't consider their feet a terribly sexy part of their body, most colour for two reasons.
a) Because others do
b) Because it's fashionable to show your toes and if you show something it should look good, regardless of whether they think its sexy or not.

2. Now the real question....because I look at womens feet ....then their face to see if they notice me....which they so rarely do 🙁

My question is.......do you notice men looking at your feet...if so what do you do and what is their response. I'm wondering, from your side of the road looking for men to give your feet some attention, what signals you might give some men occassionally...and whether those signals ever work?

Guys Love Female Feet

:feets: Hi Brookie. Personally, I LOVE it when a guy notices my feet. I know I cannot speak for other girls on TMF or elsewhwere, but I truly love it when warm weather arrives and barefoot season is here. I seem to notice most guys looking at my feet in open-toed sandals while I am wearing a pair of my slim pants, capris, or jeans that almost grab my ankles. I know I have driven some guys nuts watching me slip a foot out of a sandal as I use my toes to play with it on the floor. I am sure they think I am a foot tease or soemthing, but I just love being barefoot and I can't help it. Anyway, thank you for the question realating to TKLMAN's post.

Damn, I missed that guy? Shoot! We were in the International Marketplace and it was an asian woman at one of the booths. Yes, it is a permanent one. Although mine is not snug on my toe, it is 14K gold as well.
