Top ten most dangerous books in the world!

Hmmmm...I'm surprised that the Bible isn't on the list any more. MANY over the years have considered it dangerous. I guess it would be to the general establishment if we all LIVED what it teaches.

Seems to be a rather lopsided selection. All the mentioned books are either anti-capitalist, anti-religious, or anti-chauvinist. I can agree with the choice of Hitler's "Mein Kampf", but the other books just offer philosophical or political theories which seem to disturb the ultra-conservatives. Nietzsche and the Kinsey Report on the list, and Sigmund Freud as well as Charles Darwin as "honorable mentions"? Tsk-tsk. Ann Coulter featured as the leading columnist says it all, I guess. No wonder that the Bible is not on this list of selective perception. Read the comments, and the viewpoint becomes clear.

Besides, I think this thread merits a move to the P&R section.

Dangerous Thinking is an oxymoron

:rotate:
1) Phylis Schaffley is on the list of JUDGES (Strike ONE)

2) John Dewey(who gave us the seeds of progressive education 'that taught us to question'; not a bad idea in most situations), is an author who is on the list of Dangerous thinkers, as is Consumer Crusader Ralph Nader. (Strike Two)

3) The little "pop-up" advertisement that accompanys the article which this little news snippit was found, trumpets itself as,..."The Newspaper the Liberals DON'T Want You To Read". (Strike Three)

We have serious issures to contend with in this antion & these jackasses seem to have their own agenda.

John Dewey TAUGHT ME to question ...Thanx, JD!

To those I would add Thomas Hobbes' Leviathan, published in 1651 (a little more than 100 years after The Prince). Thematically, these books are the authors' expressions of the political climates of their respective time periods.

Live what some of it teaches certainly, but not a significant portion. I for one won't be discriminating against homosexuals or selling my daughter into slavery because she offends me. The Bible is an amazing piece of literature because it swings wildly from the most savage of right-wing views to the most hippy-peacenick central liberalism.

Personally I would have put the seventh volume of the Dark Tower series on it. That is extremely dangerous because anyone passing my window is likely to get it in the head as I hurl it away in disgust. 😀

Probably the most dangerous books in the world...

...were written by Dr. Seuss.

'Go Dog Go' was dangerous because I stole it from the library. I grew up craving a muscle car.

'Green eggs and Ham' put me in the dangerous territory of actually trying liver and onions once.

'The Grinch Who Stole Christmas': I had a teacher who looked like the Grinch, seriously! She was a sweet lady, but I just couldn't get past the fact that she might steal a ding dong out of my lunch pale. I think this book got the secularists thinking.

I don't know if these books are the MOST dangerous but they definitely have some potential... I've read a few...

What about that big dictionary they have at the library. I dropped that on my foot, one time. OUCH!!! If dropped on someone's head, it could kill. :jester:

Make a book out of all my political and religious threads. 😀😀😀

Books are words. Words in and alone aren't dangerous...what actions they inspire may be. But that's why we call it freedom of speech. Live dangerously...dare to educate yourself. Now that's a scary thought!!! :wow:

hmm

The interpretation of stories can make them good or bad. Course seems like the most vocal eventual blame religous beliefs for the worlds problems. Maybe what makes books evil is not the book but the person who reads it and draws their own conclusions. In short stop blaming the bible or any other religous text.

Words are communication and communication is desperately dangerous for many.

Has anyone ever read 'Archangel'? It fortells what could happen if an heir of Stalin evers shows up wanting to take over Russia. Not THAT'S scary.

Books burn at 451 degrees farenheit Burn/ban one then do the same to all

....about WW2, not written by an American.

Including books, films and video games where an American POW escapes from a prison camp, blithely ignoring the fact that not one single American POW escaped sucessfully throughout the entire war (and certainly not by dint of nicking the smegging Colditz glider!). 😀

i think reality has over hundreds of years indicated that the Koran is such a danger as well. political niceness prevents its consideration, no doubt.

the satanic bible shouldn't be overlooked.

and how about the protocols of the elders of zion?

Bible indeed! Why is no one concerned about "Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde"? How many scientists are out there RIGHT NOW inventing evil potions? Just because they haven't succeded yet doesn't mean it can't happen.

Guess I'm evil. I love Nietzsche 😛

I second that.

A book is dangerous when it affects the masses. Small fractions who reed books like the Kinsey Report are no real threat.

And what about the Anarchist Cookbook? There are several ways for Joe Average to manufacture bombs etc with household items.
