Now i know the united states does not condon the torture of prisoners of war. And they dont take prisoners to other countrys to be tortured..... BUT.... WHAT IF..... WE DO TORTURE THEM....... TORTURE WITH TICKLING!!! lol ya i know i sound so stupid right now but honestly it would work.... on some lol. I mean everyone would be happy, we get our information, and the prisoner can walk lol. I mean look at what happened to alot of our prisoners of war they were in bad shape. what if they would of been tickle tortured. so fun and clean lol. sorry i just woke up and i seriously thought it would be a great idea. i think ive been watching too many cartoons with the mob tickling there prisions lol.

As a currently active member of the US Army military police , it isnt possible, male/female or anything, it goes beyond the tickling and more towards shame. It would be like another abu-ghraib. but of course id tickle any state-side spy lol, but no, as an international thing absolutely not.

What is all this sudden soft heartedness toward terrorists? You bet your ass I would take hair brush to their crusty soles and scrabble away until they sang their life story and enjoy every sadistic second of it! 😀
Such softness is scary. It really is. Do you want us to end up like those people in Demolition Man with wimpy police who are afraid to fight? I mean if tickling is looked upon as a -GASP- horrible punishment or torture for a pow then what happens after that? Can you imagine living in a country that readily submits to any enemy? Please don't hurt us and certainly, certainly please don't dare tickle us or we'll be traumatized for life!

Not taking the idea of tickle torture into account, I think it's basically a desire to not lower oneself to the level of the enemy. What would the rest of the world think if, say, America started torturing its prinsoners. Whatever wrong they've done, is doing the same back to them right? To be honest I think America's already got the world angry at it enough.
Even kids cartoons try to bring this kind of message across -- shame the important people never remember/care.

That's a good question to ask. Personally... I probably, personally would -- if, like you said, there was no other way. It's like the question, "Is it wrong to steal bread to save a starving family?" Only... A bit more morally tangling than bread.
However, on a basic level I still stand by what I said before. You can't use violence to solve everything. But I guess you're right, there are special cases.

This is a touchy topic for the tickling discussion area isnt it? I was over there in Iraq when the whole damn thing kicked off back in march of 2003. I lost a lot of good friends in the process of the invasion. Maybe I have "issues" towards terrorism and the so-called people who practice it. But if they are a suspect and we think they may have info that would save american's lives, do what ever is neccesary. Remember, its not just soldier's lives we could be protecting... They have struck on American soil too. How many others in here were personally affected by 9/11 by the death of a loved one besides me? Probably a lot. I ask that nobody flame me for my own opinion, though... I was discharged after I got back for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, so alot of what I say is tainted from re-living that stinking hell-hole every day. Ok, i had better go now before I start ranting. Thanks for your time.

As for torture that is absolutely necessary, I would NEVER condone that either--I might acknowlegde it as a necessary evil, but I'd never condone it either.
As for the terrorists just getting what they deserve--who made any of us judge, jury, and executioner? Let he who has not sinned throw the first...feather, and all that.
In a word, No. Why? Three reasons off the top of my head.
1. Torture is extremely unreliable means to get information. Simply put, you torture somebdoy and they'll tell you anything, but not always the truth. For example TTD, if i put a blow torch to your foot, you'd probably tell me you made the statue of liberty.
2. What if you torture the person and they don't talk? Perhaps you have there kid. Maybe if you torture the kid, they'll talk. Once you start the ball rolling, it quickly rolls down hill. Abu Ghraib is a shinning example of that.
3. Ok, you torture this person, and you get the information, lives are saved. But then what? The next time you have a person in a similiar case, do you torture them as well? How long until the "Just this once" becomes the "normal", and "Knowing for sure" becomes "Probably" or "Maybe"?
We're going to have to be careful with this thread or it'll end up in the P&R discussion.
