Okay reading through my files and the internet, I came across a bio of Galvatron saying he was completely insane. Well duh, yeah no problems there, but claimed he was mad because of falling into lava after the battle with Rodimus Prime.

Now wait a minute, how is this possible?! Galvy is Megs in a new body. And Megatron fell into lava too, and didn't get insane. Sure he was still a little nuts, but nothing like what we see Galvatron as.

I think its more likely that the transfiguration from Megatron, to Galvatron was what did it. Something in that transformation wen wrong, and Galvy went a little loopy because of it. That and he survived an encounter with the dark god, and thus may have thought he was godlike himself (Hell the Hutts from Star Wars believe they are gods because they survived the destruction of their home world which they believed their gods gave them).

Anyway, are there any more theories to the Galvatron madness debate? Come on transfans, I know you fequent the site, I've talked to ya, hehe, so let's here your ideas.

i think most of Galvatron's insanity stemmed from being granted his new power from Unicron. in that respect, Galvatron/Megatron had something to guide and motivate him, something more powerful than he. and when the Matrix of Leadership destroyed Unicron, that link was severed. think of Galvatron as a cleric or even an avatar of Unicron; that link is suddenly gone, and now Galvatron has no driving force to motivate his actions, and loses it.

that's my theory, anyway.

Megatron was made Galvatron by virtue of Unicron in order to deliver Cybertron, as I recall.

He was remolded and reprogrammed to meet Unicron's needs, and it seemed that the resulting reconstruction allowed Unicron to deliver "pain" of some sort when Galvatron became defiant.

In the post-movie television cartoons, I seem to recall Galvatron being confined to what was essentially an asylum planet. There were three points on his semi-crown that glowed red sporadically, indicating Unicron's continuing influence, or the remnants of that programming that drove him mad. I'd suggest that Unicron's dead, but the programming remains and acts up sporadically, causing Galvatron great pain. This happens at random now (before, the lesson learned was, "Don't defy Unicron" and to cease the pain, the solution would have been "Obey Unicron"), but now he fails to find the lesson or what to do, because it's random. He continues to guess that there must be a reason for the pain, and so changes his behavior erratically, trying to find it -- to be aligned with what Unicron or the programming wants, but ultimately fails, because the pain is not trying to teach him anything.

Now if you'll pardon me, my geekness is showing and I must tuck it back in. 😀

Good points, I have to agree they do make sense.
Capnmad, the episode you made reference to from the series is Web World. I totally felt sorry for Galvy in that one. So paranoid, so sad.

i find it funny how our posts are almost similar, with the exception of you adding in the Pain Programming. our geekiness must have been in sync.

Indeed! Geek Brothers, Unite! 😀

Now, we just need to determine our symbol, the color of our capes, and the secret handshake... :bouncybou

Galvatron was driven insane because everybody kept teasing him about being related to the "Go-Bots" :imouttahe

I always understood it had something to do with his reprogramming, since he knew he had been re-programmed, and didn't like that fact he had to do anothers bidding, so the "stress" of dealing with that along with his incompetent Scourges (little joke there, haha). Tho I do think he had an idea of what was happening to him and couldn't take it.

The Scourges were such a lame group of fanboys, I'm surprised he did not blast his brains out because of them!

Actually, it was the "lava" that turned him crazy.

One, it wasn't lava at all. It was a kind of high-energy plasma.

Two, Five Faces of Darkness makes it clear that he's been submerged in this gunk for about a year, and that it ate through his "skin" into his circuits. Sorry to be so conventional.

One thing to keep in mind, Galvatron was being tortured by Unicron every time he attempted to disobey the orders to go his own way. Remember the red glow on the screen every time Unicron commanded Galvatron to get the matrix? That probably fried a few circuits in Galvatron's brain (although if anyone remembers the snake-like impulses featured in one episode of Season 2).

The big mystery is who become Cyclonus: Skywarp or Bombshell? An early version of the script actually had Cylonus having an armada similar to Scourge and his sweeps.

The biggest mystery of all is...where was Snarl? He shows up in one frame then you never see him again.

Still, it would have been nice to see Omega Supreme leveling the playing field by fighting Devastator. Or better yet the other special team combiners: Aerialbots, Protectobots, Stunticons, and Combaticons fighting it out with each other. Ah well, they do have a couple of pages in the 20th Anniversary graphic novel showing where Omega Supreme and the other combiners during the battle of Autobot City.

Well, I don't know about anybody else, but having to walk around with a little gold plastic semi-transparent cannon that was covered in teeney weeney glittery sparkles all day would make ME pretty fuck-nuts insane, too.😀

And, of course, there's that annoying noise I'd have to make every time somebody pushed my crotch.
