Alright. Essentially, I have a suggestion regarding trivia. I've spoken with Myr, and he disagrees with me, but agrees to consider it if I can show him I'm not the only one with my opinion.
There's no denying that Sunday night Trivia dominates the chat room. I would like to see it moved to a sub-room. That way, people can continue on with trivia as they like, without disturbing regular chat. The most basic retort to that would be "Why not just make a sub room for regular chat, DURING trivia?"
My answer to that, is that main chat is where the regular action happens. Nobody wants to leave the main room without a reason. Creating a smaller "regular chat" room just won't be effective. However, people WOULD be willing to enter a sub room if they had a special reason to. Trivia is a specialized event.
The sub-room feature is there to create specific places where people can chat apart from the regular strain of things. That's exactly what trivia is, an event set apart from regular chatting.
Myr tells me that he'd need to post a mod in main chat, to redirect anybody confused. I think that if there was a bulletin explaining the move on the side-bar, people would see it. If not, anybody who was in the regular room could explain that trivia's in another room. Myr doesn't think this would work. That's why I think we should give it a test for a week.
If we moved it, we could make everbody happy. And if it is indeed unnecessary to post a moderator in the main room to redirect people, then I think it's a fantastic idea. For the record, I am aware that the room is used for regular chat the rest of the week. I'm aware that my issue here is miniscule. I maintain nonetheless, that small problems deserve fixing too, especially if it's barely an inconvenience to do so.
Does anybody agree with me that my idea merits a test run?
