True. I usually don't, but on some occasions* I have.
True or False? You find my story below interesting.
*The most that I ever gave to a street beggar was $5. Usually I ignore them or give them a quarter. What happened on that occasion?
I was wearing my Brooklyn Dodgers baseball cap. The street beggar, who had just been asking people for spare change, looked at me and said, "Can you give me some spare change? I was a Brooklyn Dodger fan, too."
He looked old enough to have been, so I said, "On the 1955 World Champion Dodgers, the starting pitchers were Newcombe, Erskine, Loes, and Podres. Can you name the 8 regular position players?"
He said, "Roy Campanella, Gil Hodges, Jim Gilliam, Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Sandy Amoros, Duke Snider, and Carl Furillo."
Note that he had even named them in baseball position numerical order, from catcher (2) to right fielder (9).
"You really were a Dodger fan," I said, handing him a five dollar bill. "God bless you."
