Trying to block someone

Hello Jeff,

A TMF member was bothering me, so I went to their profile and clicked on "Ignore," which I assume is blocking. This was several months ago. However, I just checked my list of who is following me, and that person is still on that list. I went to their profile, and saw the button which says, "Unignore," so I assume this means they are blocked. But they are still showing up as one of my followers. So does this mean they are not really blocked? Shouldn't this person have been removed from my followers once I clicked on "Ignore?" Thanks for your help.

Lee

no, blocking someone doesn't remove them from your followers. They can still see you, you just can't see them.

OK. Then how can I get them to not see me, or my posts? Because this was my intention in the first place, since they were being creepy and bothering me with private messages, etc. Also, I remember a time when you had to request to follow someone, and you had to wait for them to accept it. Has that changed? Because I never did get a request from this person.

It changed when we switched to xenforo. There's no way to stop someone from seeing your posts, but there wasn't any way on the old forum either. What you're thinking of is probably the "Friend" system it had, which was replaced by follows here. Someone would request to be your friend and you would either accept or not.

But there's never been a way to stop someone from seeing your posts. If you think about it, how could that even work? All they'd have to do is log out, or create a second account. It's not possible even in theory to stop someone from seeing what you post.

You can't. Just ignore them.

OK, then I definitely get it, now. Thanks very much!
