Like many of you, I traveled over the holidays to see my family. During my travels, I checked one bag and inside this bag I had a $25 gift certificate to best buy. When I arrived at the home of my family's home, the gift card had been removed from the package and inside my suitcase was empty Nitendo Wii box. I never bought a Wii and I do not know where this box came from. I've heard numerous stories from other travelers having items disapearing from their luggage. So has anyone here had anything here have something disappear from their luggage.

Yes, too often things disappear from checked luggage. I've heard similar stories.

I put only clothes (and a tube of toothpaste) in my checked luggage and keep everything of value into my carry-on bag.

Wow, that's scary.. especially since I just came home from a trip and had (what I consider) very valuable things in my suitcase!

I had my old clunky PS2, for one, as well as at least five games in there... had shared 'em with my friends on my trip. But everything's where it should be; nothing was taken. Thank goodness! I s'pose the package handlers were either nice or were Xbox/Nintendo fanboys. =P

Wow, I didn't know this. I had thought the baggage handlers were too under-the-gun timewise even to have time to steal, and that there was some degree of supervision and accountability. And the problem is, we're more limited than ever in the kinds of things they allow us to bring in carry-on luggage. For instance, a sizable container of expensive perfume or cologne, or souvenir bottles of liquor, or an antique cutlery set--these wouldn't be permitted in carry-on.

Can't remember if it was here, or on another perverted site (😉 ) that a lot of people were chiming in about having their bondage gear stolen from their luggage. That can be awkward to travel with because having it in carry on could cause a ruckus as well.

I do recall traveling with a vibrator in my carry on and getting a baggage search. The inspector's face was RED! I managed to smirk and NOT blush for a change.
