A brief tutorial including a quick generic fabric screentone I whipped up in Photoshop, for interchangeable use.

Tutorial:
1: Open this file in Photoshop.
2: Create a new layer. Fill with white.
3: Apply Filters > Noise > 100% / Gaussian / Monochromatic.
4: Use whichever filters you like to create a pattern, for example Texturizer > Canvas.
5: Set layer blending mode to Overlay (the blending mode required may vary based on the filter).
6: Press Ctrl + E.
7: Paste the new image on a layer above the area you want to add texture to.
8: Use Transform > Warp to better fit the area you'll be applying it to, or to "wrap" the texture, giving the illusion of 3D.
9: Select the area you want to fill with Magic Wand / Polygonal Lasso / etc, and copy & paste the selection into a new layer.
10: Delete the layer below, and set the newly pasted layer's blending mode to Overlay (the blending mode required may vary depending on the pattern you create).
11: Repeat steps 1 - 10 for each pattern.

If you use this, credit is NOT necessary, but welcomed. However, please show me your creations. I'd love to see how I've helped you out.

What is the result? I don't see what this is good for 🙂

I believe the goal here it to apply the fabric like texture as seen in the image above, to another, overlayed image.

Screentone is when you add texture to an area using a pre-rendered image. This particular one is mainly for fabric.
