What do you use to tie someone's big toes together?

I am the world's worst toe tying 'ler

I have never been any good at toe tying. I either tie too tightly, and the big toes look like plums, or the tie slips off after some movement. I have never tried tying the toes of a lady in the stocks and then securing the other end to a cleat or equivalent.
