Upgrade Complete - Another awesome meta-game

This one isn't quite as perfect as "You Only Die Once" was, but it's a lot more fun to play. It's a basic bottom scrolling space attack game where you try to survive descending waves of enemy ships.

The hook in Upgrade Complete is that the money you earn by blowing up enemy ships has to be used to buy EVERYTHING. You not only buy upgrades for your ship, like more and better guns (one of the cool sidenotes of the game is that your ship is extremely customizable) but you have to buy things like the background music and background wallpaper. Then you have to buy the mute button if you want to turn the music back off. You even have to buy the load screen that starts the game.

And the graphics start out horrible, like a 16 bit game from the Atari 2600. But you can even buy upgrades to them, improving them through four stages.

When you've completed the game and upgraded everything, including the font and colors of the menu buttons, and the copyright declaration, you can buy a final upgrade that allows you to save your game, or start over.

It's a very cool concept 😎

If you buy the final, mystery upgrade you can start over, with a new ship design strategy. But I agree, 20 levels is too brief. That's always the problem with these little indie games.
