USA hockey scores upset against Canada

The quality of hockey in this game was fantastic. Canada carried the play pretty much the whole game, but the USA's goalie Ryan Miller was outstanding. The USA's 5-3 win was unexpected, but deserved.

Being from Detroit I feel bad for Steve Yzerman (Canada's GM) and Canada's Head Coach Mike Babcock (Red Wings Head Coach)...but whenever 'Cindy' Crosby and 'Chrissy' Pronger lose...it's always a very, very good day.

This win doesn't guarantee anything, but the USA were the better team today.

This is the only part I disagree with. Both teams played a phenomenal game, but, as a team, Canada was overall better. The place where the US exceded Canada greatly was the only place it matters: The net. Ryan Miller put on a clinic and Brodeur made some sloppy mistakes.

But I digress. Great game to both teams. Congrats to the US. :clap:

The better team won. Because, well that's how it works. Crappy teams do not win games.
 
You have to remember Canada took more shots because they had to, they were behind most of the game. Similar to a losing QB throwing for 300 plus yards and the winning QB throwing for say only 150... Russia will play Canada in the quarter final and after this game one of these two co-favorites will be eliminated.

I watched the game and I thought it was great! The 3rd perios i was in the edge of my seat.My only issue with the USA team was that the puck spent WAY too much time of there side of the ice...thank god for our goalie! I dont know the numbers but just from watching as a spectator id say that team canada shots on goal was much higher then team usa
 
I'm not a hockey fan and didn't watch the game, but congratulations to the U.S. Olympic hockey team. :usa:

I must say this is well put lol... People can say all they want about Canada taking more shots to try to make goals... but the thing is they TRIED.. they didn't succeed... USA won.. 5 to 3. USA obviously didn't have to try to shoot all the time... they made it in more with less hits to the goal. So why would Canada be better just because they tried to hit it in more times since USA hit it in more times with less tries?

Because Canadians eat sleep breathe and shit hockey. So when they lose they have to start flapping their gums about how the USA team was just lucky. The USA team had a better goalie, but they aren't better overall. Pretty much they all thought Canada would blow past everyone right for the gold. Since that isn't what happen it's time to make excuses.

Yeah, I hate when people say that the team beat their team bc they got lucky. I find that disrespectful to the other team. They won because they won. It takes skill, and USA is undefeated and they didn't have luck the whole time. and I like team Canada, I root for them when USA or Mexico isn't playing, not that Mexico ever plays during the olympics usually but yeah... but now I think I want them to lose their next game and not even get into the medal rounds bc a couple of people got me irritated last night by saying they got lucky. And when I said USA was undefeated they just said that yeah, but they beat the same teams Canada beat so it doesn't matter, and all I could think of saying, which I didn't bc they'd just say "yeah but that was bc of luck" but all I could think of in my head was "Yeah but you're forgetting one thing, USA beat Canada so it doesn't matter if they beat the same teams as Canada, USA beat Canada" in other words I was saying USA was the better team (In my head of course), because not only did they beat the same teams as Canada but they also beat Canada so it really doesn't matter that Canada beat all the same teams, USA still beat Canada as well as all the teams Canada beat.

and they also said that Canada's women are unstoppable so they're going to win Gold, but they play USA, and since they're fans of Canada and they think they're unstoppable it doesn't matter than USA's females are also unstoppable as they are undefeated as well.

the Canadians could see the Russians in the Quarters. That could mean big trouble for Canada . The goaltending was huge for USA but don`t discount the bulldog mentality either. Wondering in team Canada has WAY TOO MANY flashy scorers and not enough grinders and blue collar guys.

How could team USA beating Finland be an upset? Unless you are talking simply about the score of the game, then I could understand. Odds are it's going to be us against you, and you are welcome to go for the gold, but I hope you like the taste of silver.

However, should we lose tonight, then I will be cheering the USA. Better the American Yanks, then the Slovakian Wanks.

By the way I am watching the women's curling (cause it's one) and I've noticed the captain of Team Canada has gorgeous green eyes.
