Valentine's Day

I personally hate Valentine's Day. One reason is because well I'm a floral designer and when this day comes every year, it is unbelieveably exhausting...and two...it isn't fair that most of the people around were with their husbands and boyfriends, wifes, girlfriends, lovers..whatever, while mine's in Iraq.

When IS Valentine's Day? It always goes by without me even noticing it.

Valentine's Day is alway Feb. 14th, the celebrating the birthday (or is it date of death? Perhaps some good practicing Catholic can help out this ole Protestant... 😉 ) of Saint Valentine, a priest who (1) married couples (soldiers to their bethrothed I believe) in opposition to the rulers of that area of the Roman Empire or (2) a priest who died in prison for his faith who had a freindly/platonic relationship with his jailer's daughter, whose notes were always signed 'From your Valentine. There are several other verisons of the origin. Hard to say what the correct one is.

I surprized MDJ with dinner at Olive Garden..then hid in our bedroom...put on my old tux from college choir (all but the jacket still fit!)..and when she came in the room, started our favoirte CD to dance to.....made her night....

I was in the same boat as the rest of you until I met mine...have patience...the right one is worth the wait.....

I never got into Valentine's day much...I've only in the past year or two had a REAL Valentine, so this is all kinda new. Even so, I always get her little things that remind me of her or that I know will make her smile...because V-day is a bunch of crap, and I love her every day of the year. Regardless, a few cute things were purchased...and we were going to go to dinner, but she got a migraine, and we ordered WINGS!!! (how awesome is that?) We just sat around and ate wings, watched TV, chilled with our friend Matt before he went to go love his man...then, I escorted her to the bedroom and gave her a nice long back massage...again, this isn't necessarily different than any other day of the year...and the rest, well...I'll tell you when you're older, kids...😛 All in all, Valentine's day is a load of horse spunk...but I have to agree about the liquidated chocolate inventory afterwards!!!! WHOO!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful monday regardless...and that if you're single, you did something for yourself, or for your friends.

GQGuy...any luck with the ladies in the Burgh??? I want to come party with you sometime...my ler and I both think you're HOTT!!!

My Valentine's day was met with a severe lack of money so no chocolates or flowers for nessie. Hubby DID make me a cake that he colored pink with home-made chocolate icing on top so it wasn't a bad day. 😀
