A very rare event (next one in 88 years time) is taking place today and tomorrow.

Venus crosses the face of the Sun and can clearly be seen as a black dot through an image projected on a dark surface.

Or it can be watched online at various sites. The only option for here on the UK coast as we have 100% cloud cover.

Event starts approx 11pm 5th June BST.

Here's a link that gives US times

Is it just me, or is the universe adorable.

Lil black dot of a venus strolling in front of the sun :3

Looking forward to it! Jamie and I tracked down some welding glass (no protection less than #14 if you're thinking of doing the same), and we're ready for the event!

Cool, not sure if anyone else was really interested.

I watched the last one from my porch and almost melted an eyepiece in the process. Worth it though watching the dot move across the Sun's disk. This one I think I'll just watch online.
