The Italian composer Vivaldi was a priest before he turned to composing full-time. Once, during Mass, a musical idea popped into his head. He immediately abandoned the Mass and ran off to compose, leaving behind a stunned and confused congregation.

Ya gotta "focus" man, focus! Have to agree with that choice...the sinners will still need beating, but great music is fleeting. 🙂 Q
 
I don't listen to classical music all that much (I know Vivaldi's music is Baroque, but I'm being general here), but Vivaldi is definitely one of the greatest composers who ever lived. I especially love the Four Seasons concerto and his Alla Rustica Presto (I hope all that's right), which was in the movie "All That Jazz" BTW. I did not know he was a priest, but apparently leaving religion behind to compose was the best thing he ever did for civilization. 😀
