For those like me who would be tempted to ignore the link, it seems that some chap is going to pay $1 for every unique comment posted on a message forum within a 2 day period. I don't know if the man is serious, or has ulterior motives. It certainly seems like a good way to generate traffic visiting his site.

He has a number of links on his page, so perhaps he gets money for people going through these? Surely this one man cannot afford what he promises. I'm sceptical, but perhaps someone will tell me why I shouldn't be so sceptical.

If genuine, this is a very good thing.

Actually, the post says she saved money for her family taht lived down there, but since their insurance covered anything, she was going to use the money to donate $1 per post.....not taking into account that there are millions of LJ users

But is she being entirely honest and truthful. How do we know that she can be trusted?

How do you know that anybody can be trusted? I took 15 seconds to add a comment to her Live Journal. Either she will contribute a dollar because of it or not. If not, I've lost 15 seconds that I would have spent online anyway.

I don't choose to go through life in a 100% cynical mode. You can do as you wish.

I posted to the LJ thread. Whether it is true or not, I'm still doing something.

My school community is pulling together to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Students have been bring in money which will be given to the Red Cross.

Some of the families from Mississippi and Louisiana are relocating to Atlanta. Donating money is great; however, it takes quite awhile for the money to be allocated.

Starting next week, we'll also be collecting water, food, tolietries and clothing to send wherever it is needed. And I'm getting together a benefit concert as well with 100% of the proceeds going to relief efforts.

It just seems like whatever I do, I just want to do more! The devastation just breaks my heart. 🙁
