I know you all know better and so do I BUT it can happen to the best of us. I was surfing the net lookling at all the foot fetish sites which I really don't do as a rule but I did and I accidently down loaded a TROJAN HORSE VIRUS the damage was contain to another computer not intergrated into my studio.If it had been in the studio computer I would have been screwed and I mean real bad.That one is no longer on line.To fix the infected one has cost me $$. To all the nice people here please be careful.

As a general rule when I visit sites of unknown or highly suspect origins I set my Internet Explorer Security setting to high. They can be found under the Tool section then click on Internet Options and then click on Security and set it to high and click Ok. This is not 100% perfect but gives you more protectection against Java Script viruses. 😀

how does one go about setting their security to high??? i mean omg i'm lucky if i can download updates correctly. we had a major virus hit my computer in june, making me unable to delete or send emails plus other various things. so now i know better than to click on unknown links.

Isabeau Click on TOOLS in the top menu bar. Then Click on INTERNET OPTIONS then click on the SECURITY tab and set the bar to HIGH (the Internet symbol (the little globe) should be highlighted). Click ok and you are done. Do the same thing again when you want to set it back to normal which is usually the MEDIUM setting. I never go below the medium setting.

Viruses & Browsers

For those having a problem with viruses when surfing the internet, I would suggest surfing to be done using this browser instead of IE.

I swear by this browser, and once you get used to it. You will never use MS Internet Explorer ever again.

I would also recommend using AVAST antivirus available here , which is has a free home license for non business users. In my experience, this program is unbeatable and has stopped viruses where others haven't (namely norton).

I hope this helps. If it doesn't, let me know the name of the virus you've picked up and I'll take a look and get you a removal tool for it. 🙂
